COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.

Tap. Copper pour with off-white head that leaves some lacing. Caramel, bread, floral, citrus. Soft medium-light body. Not bad but not exciting ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On nitro 4 oz. sample at the Lost Dog Cafe in Merrifield, VA. Clear, medium amber with a creamy off-white head and excellent lacing. Aroma of caramel mild citrus and chocolate malt. Bitter, smooth and nicely balanced. Medium/light body and low carbonization (nitro). Easy to drink. More citric than a typical English bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 fl oz bottle from Potsdam IGA (Potsdam, NY), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear copper with a smallish light tan head. Aroma: Bread and bread crust maltiness, brothy/mashy, some dry British toffee notes, a wee bit of dark dried fruit, not especially inspiring. Palate: Medium body, fairly lively carbonation. Flav.: Bread and bread crust, dry British maltiness, an odd...almost fishy(?) note, messy; dry with some bitterness and a nondescript British malt finish.

Boring.

Aroma of malts, some caramel, citrus, floral hops. Flavour is citrus and caramel malts, light hops, finishes with a light bitterness. Decent session brew.

On nitro. Dark amber color with thick white head. Smells biscuity and slightly fruity. Nice smooth palate. Slightly bitter and biscuity taste. I like it.

Nice dark golden color with lots of creamy head. Good bitterness with a smooth finish. Solid beer overall. Make sure to try the nitro.

Has stayed in bottle for two years and that probably cut of the bitternes. Closer to basic bitter than ESB. Taste has hints of fresh hops, some sugary notes. Flavour is nothing too fancy: sweet malty smoothnes. Palate is nice and balanced.

Nice fine creamy bitter. Cascading brown amber with foamy head. Malty caramel aroma that adds unobtrusive bitterness in the taste. A little mineraly in the aftertaste. Super creamy with the nitro edition. Good enough for tonight.
