Yeah, I enjoy a doppelbock, but this is more of a smoked beer. I am normally not a smoked beer fan, but this was alright. Very smokey, but still somewhat balanced.

Pours hazy brown with a huge off-white head. Big smoky aroma reminiscent of bacon and smoked ham. Toffee and alcohol notes are apparent with some concentration; smoke is definitely the main ingredient. The smoke is a little more subdued in the flavor, which is malty-sweet with a touch of chocolate. The smoke comes in on the finish, where it dries out the whole thing and melds with toffee and caramel in a delicious sock-hop of great flavors. Incredibly drinkable; I think the smoke covers up any alcohol flavors. Excellent.

I love smoked beers and this was a really done good with hints of malts and toffee flavors and a nice smoke finish and wood but not overwheling which is great for a campfire CHERS!

Murky brown colored brew with a tan head. Strong smoke aromas of bbq, and roasted malts. Taste is a bit complex. Big notes of smoke, tiny bits of earthy wood, and rich bacon. The bacon taste is odd but remarkably works in this beer. Strong smoke aftertaste. Drained the bomber by myself, cannot really pull that one off again since the beer is too rich to have a lot of. Overall very nice, lives up to it’s smoked label.

’07 Bottle: Pours dark brown with a medium cream head. Liquid smoke dominates the aroma with very subtle malt notes. Flavor is overpowering smoke and very little else. This is the third smoked brew that I’ve had and I can’t grasp why the smoke aroma/flavor has to be so overdone. I just wish this was more balanced like the Stone Smoked Porter.

Bottle, 75cl (the cork put up a good fight). Hazy amber colour with a large off-white head. Malty aroma with hints of liquorice, wood and a subtle smokey note. Easier detectable smoke in the taste. A nice campfire beer.

Bottle shared by AndyReynolds. Yeah it’s a dopplebock, but more of a smoked beer. Smoke heads should love it. Strong smoked aroma and flavor accompany the usual dopplebock qualities. Smooth and flavorful with lots of malt and smoke. Something new.

I liked this better then the Smoke Jumper. More balanced smokieness, and it seemed to lend itself better to a bock, rather then a porter. The smokiness along with the sweetness of the dopplebock was a fine mix. Tasted like smoked, maple bacon. Not for everyone, but i think its tasty.

Bottle. Hazy red brown with beige head. Malt with quite heavy smoke. Caramel and smoked meat? Anyway, the smoke dominates a bit too much. Low bitterness.
