Commercial Description:
If you've been reading our newsletters, brewer Ro Guenzel gave you a flavor last month of what it took to brew this smoked Imperial Porter (singed hair, smoke in the eyes, sunburn, etc.) - all a labor of love. Available in beautiful 750mL bottles. The National Smokejumpers Association has made Smokejumper the "Official Beer" of their organization. So, here's the smoke in your glass, not in the woods.

Editor's note: this beer is described as 9.2% on the brewery website, but there are two sets of bottles on the market, labeled as both 9.2% and 10.5%. Left Hand has since had this beer lab-tested; the correct amount is actually 9.8%.

Compliments of doboy (thanks Ed), shared with the boys in da hood. Poured from bomber, dark brown, almost black, off brown foamy head. Aroma pungent with smoke of course, burnt malts espresso. Flavour much the same, not a fan of smoked stly beers, this one was strong. Smoked beer lovers would enjoy this one. Overall decent.

Bottle. Low and quickly disappearing brown creamy head. Black body indeed. Smoke coffee liquorice hops aroma. Creamy smoke coffee liquorice hops flavor with some acidity as well. Low carbonation. Long aftertaste. Alcohol percentage well hidden.

Hell yeah, this is one hell of a smoked beer. This is not just a normal "smoked porter". There is a huge amount of smoked in here. Aroma and flavor are dominated by smoke and followed by roasted sweet malts. Full body and alcohol is well hidden. My favorite smoked beer so far.

Freaking delicious. Huge thanks to the good people at Left Hand for bringing this to the Des Moines brew fest, particularly the left hand rep who had everyone push me to the front of the line when the bottle got opened! Pours a deep brown with a small head. Plenty of smoke and bacon on the aroma. Flavor is awesome very smoky some deep roasty and chocolate notes compliment, but generally it’s just really smoky and very tasty, the alcohol is particularly well hidden.

At brewfest 09. Lots of ham and bacon. Some caramel in the nose. Very smooth palate. Quite nice.

Dark brown with a thin slowly fading off white head. Aroma of smoke, caramel, wood and sweet roasted malt. Taste of caramel, alcohol, sweet and roasted malt and of course plenty of smoked malt. Some saltiness comes through and the body is semi sticky, but overall a very good example of the style.

Probably one of those beers that speaks to some, but not to others. It speaks to me. It says it is smoky and sweet, bright and sour, bitter and smooth, all in a package that is so natural it is like it grew in a tree. I loved it.

(bottle). Dark brown color with tan particles. Medium tan head. Strong, smokey roasted malt aroma with light hops. Sweet malt flavor with light alcohol. Avg duration. Astringent finish. Slick texture. Moderate carbonation. Good lacing.
