COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If you’ve been reading our newsletters, brewer Ro Guenzel gave you a flavor last month of what it took to brew this smoked Imperial Porter (singed hair, smoke in the eyes, sunburn, etc.) - all a labor of love. Available in beautiful 750mL bottles. The National Smokejumpers Association has made Smokejumper the "Official Beer" of their organization. So, here’s the smoke in your glass, not in the woods.

Editor’s note: this beer is described as 9.2% on the brewery website, but there are two sets of bottles on the market, labeled as both 9.2% and 10.5%. Left Hand has since had this beer lab-tested; the correct amount is actually 9.8%.

CBF07, what I can understand was another of Jeppes bottles (I’ll see if I can get replacements for this in the states), this time shared by someone else at the Mikkeller stand. Pours brown and amber. Aroma is roasted malts and slight smoked. Flavour is dry malty, smoked and goes into a good and decent bitterness in the finish.

Bottled@The 1st Vaasa CS/ES beer session (thanks JS). Quite much pitch black colour with beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some tar as well as mild smoked wet wood and some slight ashes as well. Flavour is very much tar, smoked wet wood, slight roasted malts as well as old coffee. Rather mouthfilling feeling while having this.

Bottled at Københavnske Øldage. Dark hazy brown, creamy head. Smokey licorice aroma. Dryish with quite strong flavour of woody smoke. Medium sweet with full body. The high alcohol sines through, but doesn’t disturb, instead it adds complexity. Very good smoke ale!

Bottle. Dark brown coloured with a beige head. Roasted and smokey aroma. Roasted aroma of liquorice, chocolate and smoke. The smoke is very dominating in the aroma, but is more well balanced in the flavour.

Black color, with a huge rocky head, brownish. There is an initial aroma of smoke and dark malts, followed by light phenol and liquorice. Good body strength and structure, with an excellent chocolate flavor nicely corrected by a delicate smoke touch; it has a fair sweetness level that balances the dark flavors; in the end there is a hint of roasted malts and liquorice, not intrusive; the bitterness is quite strong, and the alcohol produces a pleasant warmth. Very good beer.
