COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The usually peaceful St. Vrain River snakes out of the Rocky Mountains, winding mischievously towards our brewery. Named after Ceran St. Vrain, an 1800’s trapper and trader in the valley, St. Vrain is our version of a classic Belgian Tripel. Light in color and lightly hopped using Celeia hops, a touch of malt sweetness contrasts the warm spiciness hidden within. What at first appears benevolent can manifest into a mighty serpent in waiting.

22oz bottle, 2013 vintage. Totally clear golden color. Nice continually ascending column of bubbles in the center. Good thin white head, couple loose splotches of lace. Bigger body. Good smooth kind of crisp lighter carbonation. A bit lighter and less effervescent than your typical belgian example, but I like it.. Makes for an easy-drinker. Some light banana, bit of orange citrus. Scaled back belgian candy sugar, but it’s there. Very nice flavor to this. Really enjoyable on the porch during a sunday evening after work. Light to moderate sweet taste, good light bit of spice. Very satisfying, tasty example of an American tripel.

Watery tripel. Not terrible but a bit bland for what it's supposed to be ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours from the bottle a light golden color with a foamy white head. Smells of sweet malt, citrus, spice and a little alcohol. Taste is crisp and clean; sweet malt, orange, coriander and yeast. Slightly bitter and alcohol-y aftertaste. A wonderful tripel.

This beer pours like an overly carbonated lager and is as gold in color as the most hated macro brew. But looks can be deceiving. This Belgian-style ale has a sweet floral scent which invites a sip. With the initial taste a good but basic Belgian ale appears. Next, a slight sweet maltiness nicely contrasts with the mild bitterness of the celeia hops and adds to the freshness. By now, a full mouth brings forth thoughts of the autumn spices of a once enjoyed farmhouse ale, and its true texture appears. The bottle's tail end leaves you warm and satisfied but surprised with its medium-high ABV. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. This beer appears to be retired but I just picked up a bottle. Not sure if this a new release or just a very old/delayed bottle, definitely a different label than the one shown here. Pours a hazy gold with little white head, settles quickly with minimal lacing. Aroma is sweet, floral, fruity, apricot. Flavor is similar to smell, fruity, peach, apricot, slight spice. Soft to moderate carbonation, medium body, and slightly juicy texture, drinkable. A juicy, fruity, sweet tripel.

Pour out of bottle at the CO rare beer tasting 2012, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of biscuit, bread, some white fruits with peach, hints of spice, slight cardboard, hints of earth, pretty standard. Taste was a mix of caramel, biscuit, some slight earth, lots of spice with ginger, clove, and coriander, hints of fruity esters, slight pepper notes, finishing fairly sweet, slightly dry. Pretty tasty.

Bottle @ Rackhouse Colorado Rare Beer Tasting. The reps claimed this was a 2001 vintage, but I think it was a 2009 vintage. Quite spicy, light clove, spritzy, spicy citrusy, a bit chewy yeasty nose. Super drinkable, lemon, light orange, spicy yeasty, light banana flavor. I wish they would make this baby again.

22 ounce bottle into chalice, no bottle dating(no idea when this was retired, but I will give it a shot). Pours hazy golden amber color with a nice 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with nice retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of apple, pear, honey, banana, herbal, pepper, bread, candi sugar, floral, clove, earth, and yeast spiciness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity. Taste of pear, apple, honey, herbal, banana, bread, candi sugar, floral, earth, clove, and light yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of light fruits, honey, bread, herbal, floral, earth, clove, and light yeast spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of flavors; zero cloying flavors or sweetness after the finish. Very malt forward over spicy esters, but it works so well here. Medium carbonation and body; with a slick and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an Excellent Tripel! Very nice complexity with great balance; very smooth to sip on. No idea on the age of this, but it held up very well. Definitely one of the better American made Tripels I have ever had. Highly enjoyable.

thanks to Owen for the bottle Clear straw gold. Quite opaque. Good lacing with the head Apple, honey, malt and bread in the nose. Follows nose but a lot of apple, bear and banana. Light bodied and crisp for a retired beer. Quite easy to drink but borders on a cider in some ways
