COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The usually peaceful St. Vrain River snakes out of the Rocky Mountains, winding mischievously towards our brewery. Named after Ceran St. Vrain, an 1800’s trapper and trader in the valley, St. Vrain is our version of a classic Belgian Tripel. Light in color and lightly hopped using Celeia hops, a touch of malt sweetness contrasts the warm spiciness hidden within. What at first appears benevolent can manifest into a mighty serpent in waiting.

Bottled. Hazy yellow colout, white head. Lots of yeast going on here, with alcohol, citrus and subtle note of almond paste. Spices addded. Malty backbone, and only light sugary. Not as pronounced as the belgian tripels. Lots of dough and yeast.

750 ml brown Belgian style bottle. Corked & caged. No freshness date noted. Poured out a hazy straw yellow color, with a sticky white head. Aromas are of fresh cut hay, some citrus notes, along with lime peel. Wildflower honey in the aromas as well. Tastes are of honeysuckle vines, along with a citrus zing. Big malt backbone, with a floral hops finish. Decent body, decent mouthfeel. A pretty good triple from Colorado? Jeez, what will these guys do next?

Draft. Aroma: Sweet bready malt, orange zest, peppery spiciness. Some light floral and yeasty notes. Appearance: Medium golden in color and slightly hazed. White head was small and frothy with poor retention. Not much lacing. Flavor: Sweet bready malt with notes of candi sugar, orange zest, peppery spice. Some light floral and herbal notes into the finish. Alcohol comes forward into the finish, as well. Dry finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Light alcohol warmth in back of mouth. Overall: Decent enough Trippel. Could have used a bit more ’oomph’ throughout.
