3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle purchased as a single at MDL in Overland Park, Kansas. Pour is a lightly hazed golden orange with a minimal white head. The aroma is caramel malt and citrus orange and grapefruit hop bitterness. The nose gets a bit dirty earthy as it warms. Taste is a nice bright citrus up front, blended nicely with the lightly sweet malt. Nice bread toast character comes out as it warms. Palate is light to medium bodied, nice unfiltered mouth feel, mineral dry and crisp finish. Bright, refreshing beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottled 3/12/11. consumed 4/5/11.
clear. very orange shade of yellow with a small ow head.
smells kinda british spicy?...a little dank, sweaty yeast, light pine, floral, metal and woody notes in there as well.
the flavor is very metallic.... it doesn’t blow off like usual even after it sits for a while. also, noted are pale malt without the sweetness, wood and flowers. theres a light saltiness in the aftertaste.
sharply carbonated and crisp. not bad, just a little boring... although highly crushable. 6/3/6/3/13

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
I must disagree with some of the earlier contributors: I think this works very well. Maybe it isn’t as big or hoppy as others offerings, but it’s a pale ale, and compared to other pale ales, it measures up well. Hazy golden with a persistent head and good lacing. Sweet caramel malt mixed with floral hops works just as well here as chocolate-covered pretzels do as a salty/sweet snack. Easy drinking and not filling.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Hazy traffic light yellow beer with average floral and hop aromas. Intensely bitter but also a little sweet. Probably a result of adding rye. Too dry to be termed refreshing but not full bodied enough to be filling. Very funny to a Stranger from the Left Hand, but they could have chosen a better brew to make the joke with.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle from Central Market. This beer pours a clear light orange color with a small ring of white head. The aroma is pretty light. Grainy, faint hops and leaves. Not much there. The flavor matches the aroma in that it’s rather plain. Slightly sweet grains, dry notes that end in a hoppy bitterness. Nothing special really.

On tap at Barley’s. The rye in here is a cool twist. The hop notes are nice and grassy up front, then finish with a lingering bitterness which reacts rather interestingly with the rye. I would definitely drink it again, but all the same, there are a lot of options out there and a full 6-pack might last me a while. Rye in a beer is good on occasion, but I find that a little goes a long way.
