Sane or senseless? Harmless or harmful? Sometimes it takes awhile to get to know a stranger. Initial impressions are not always reality, so you must delve deeper. Beyond the initial floral hop aromas, malt sweetness is revealed, yet with a spicy undertone that exposes a very rye sense of humor. Take your time to get to know the Stranger. It’s strangely satisfying.

On tap at Taco Mac Decatur. Chewy grain and caramel malt flavors. Grassy hop finish and herbal aroma. Floral aroma as well. Good straight APA with a little more hop presence and character.

The aroma is clena like mountain air. Fresh. the appearance... crystal amber, and bubbly. Small white head. Hoppy flavor with not quite enough malt to balance, but clean... clear. Thinner, watery palate than you expect for the style. Full-bodied finish. Very enjoyable, but there is much contention in this space.

12oz bottle. Hazy light-ambery yellow color, minimal head. Hoppy nose. Sharp carbonation. Balanced taste. Moderately quick finish, moderately light body. Spice in the aftertaste, some smokiness (from the rye notes, maybe). Not bad.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2011 The aroma has cheesy yeast with citrus hops and bread like malt. The appearance is golden with a foamy head. The taste is like the aroma with a bit of spice. The palate is thin but OK. Overall this beer is a bit strange but just enough to keep it from being run of the mill. I think this one’s a bit underrated, I like it.

12 oz. Amber with a lasting creamy foam. Nose is resin, caramel, a hint of citrus. Flavor is citrus and resin on front with some caramel in the middle, and back to the resin on the finish. Near-medium body is smoothly carbonated, lightly hop tingly, and well-balanced with a dry finish.

12 ounce from Liquor Barn. Nice pour. Slightly floral. Light malt and caramel. Perfume like taste follows sips. Not at all bad even if not amazing.

Clear, golden beer with a thin, white, pillowy head which is mostly diminishing and leaves some drippy lace. The nose is dusty, lightly bready, some grass, and orange. The flavor is slightly spicy, grassy, orangey, bready, and a light sweaty note. The palate is thin, watery, light, and lively. It finishes sweaty, spicy, and bready. Just bad all the way around, much worse than the pale it replaced.

Pours an amber color with a white head. Aroma is of citrus and floral hops, with some caramel and light toasted malts. Flavor is sweet at first with the caramel malts that gives way to the citrus and floral hops.

Hops, tea and spice in the aroma while the appearance is yellow-gold. The taste is the rye up front with the hoppinesss behind it. Not really that different from the retired old APA Left Hand makes although the rye helps with the flavor some.
