Sane or senseless? Harmless or harmful? Sometimes it takes awhile to get to know a stranger. Initial impressions are not always reality, so you must delve deeper. Beyond the initial floral hop aromas, malt sweetness is revealed, yet with a spicy undertone that exposes a very rye sense of humor. Take your time to get to know the Stranger. It’s strangely satisfying.

A golden ale with a thick lacing white head. In aroma, nice light floral hops with light citrusy notes, very classic. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with light floral hops, and mineral notes, not bad. Sampled at Bierkraft, Dec. 27 2011.

On tap @ Left Hand. Light golden orange appearance with an ivory head. Dull earthy hoppy, boring nose. A touch bitter flavor from some mild hops but pretty boring light beer.

Pours light orange that poured a huge head that leaves three-eighths of an inch retained. Off-aromas. Initially orange and hoppy flavours, followed by lots of malt. Decent drinkability, but a bottle is a lot. Decent mouthfeel.

355mL at my brother’s local pool bar. Webby white lacing on clear light orange. Nose is soap, refreshing citrus, orange rind. Taste is minerally, suddy, orange peel. Mildly hoppy. Palate is mild citrus oil, stickier, prickly seltzer. Overall pretty sticky, stale/dusty, nutty/tea tannic, mild melony American hop profile.

Bottle. Clear gold body, small white head. Starchy grain husks and sulfuric yeast off-notes in the nose with vegetal hops and faint touches of DMS / cooked corn / cabbage and cement mix. There’s some strange fruitiness hidden beneath all of this, coming across something like spoiled / fermenting fruit cocktail. Light body with rough grain texture, medium carbonation. I could see this being acceptable without the brewing flaws, though it would be dull and plain. With the flaws, it goes from mediocre to foul.
