Sane or senseless? Harmless or harmful? Sometimes it takes awhile to get to know a stranger. Initial impressions are not always reality, so you must delve deeper. Beyond the initial floral hop aromas, malt sweetness is revealed, yet with a spicy undertone that exposes a very rye sense of humor. Take your time to get to know the Stranger. It’s strangely satisfying.

Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, rye, pine and floral. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium bitter with a long spicy and floral finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Pours light orange that poured a huge head that leaves three-eighths of an inch retained. Off-aromas. Initially orange and hoppy flavours, followed by lots of malt. Decent drinkability, but a bottle is a lot. Decent mouthfeel.

Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head that evaporates steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of grassy hops, malt and a bit of fruit. The finish is mildly bitter with a floral hops aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Half pint, tap at BrewDog, Leeds. Clear, copper-gold body, dissipating white head, good amount of lacing down the glass. Modest aroma of resin, farmyard and malty sweetness. Sweaty hops and lemon to the taste buds added by a touch of earthy malts. Fresh and smooth fruity ending, semi-dry. Standard pale ale, more or less (30.06.2013).

355mL at my brother’s local pool bar. Webby white lacing on clear light orange. Nose is soap, refreshing citrus, orange rind. Taste is minerally, suddy, orange peel. Mildly hoppy. Palate is mild citrus oil, stickier, prickly seltzer. Overall pretty sticky, stale/dusty, nutty/tea tannic, mild melony American hop profile.

From the cask. Really unnecessary for a brewery to be producing another pale ale. I will say this: on cask it is a pleasant and drinkable beer.

Keg at White Horse. It pours orange=amber, with a thin white head. The nose is sweet malt, orange, boiled sweets and maybe a touch of sweaty sock. The taste is very light, hay, orange, citrus pith, lemony soap, spice, straw and faint tropical fruit. Light body and moderate carbonation. Easy drinking, but relatively unexciting.

Bottle. Golden with an off white foam. Aromas are grain with lemon rind and pithy grapefruit. Lager like nutty malts with hints of lime. Flavours are clean grain with citrus hops and a grassy, floral character. Good.

Golden color, white head. Fruity, hoppy, a bit subtle taste. Moussy mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Malty and hoppy scent.
Not very exiting, but fresh and nice. Could do with a little less co2.

Pours clear orange with white head, aroma has notes of some pine, grass, biscuit and a touch of caramel. Taste is similar, a little weak on the hop front but has some slight biscuit and caramel to balance the grassy notes. Overall ok, but a bit weak in flavor.
