Sane or senseless? Harmless or harmful? Sometimes it takes awhile to get to know a stranger. Initial impressions are not always reality, so you must delve deeper. Beyond the initial floral hop aromas, malt sweetness is revealed, yet with a spicy undertone that exposes a very rye sense of humor. Take your time to get to know the Stranger. It’s strangely satisfying.

Aromas are of American hops, citrusy, slightly earthy (Northern Brewer maybe?), with a subtle but pleasant sweet caremel malt tone in the background. White head, rather thin but lacing, on a gold beer; excellent clarity. The hop flavor is present however not as big as some APAs. The finish is clean and, combined with a high carbonation, this beer is very enjoyable and drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bitter IPA, not overly hoppy. Nice scent and easy enough to drink. Not sure I’d get again, but worth a try.

maekchu (1973) - Hirakata, JAPAN - JUL 15, 2014
Bottle from Sugaya. Light malty nose, medium hop presence, with some good citrus. Light hazy deep golden amber color. Fruity and caramelly initial / light caramel in mid / a touch of spicy hops in mid and final. Light-medium body, a bit airy, and just a lttile astringent. Nice, well-balanced stuff. The hops emerge in a pleasant way but never dominate.

12 ounce bottle. Brassy gold color. Small bubbly white head with nice lace. Fresh citrus hop aroma. Toasted grainy malt flavor upfront. Slightly spicy rye malt flavor balanced by complex hops. This is a well crafted, medium bodied pale ale that is very quaffable.
