1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
My wife and I tried Left Handís TNT Weizen Dopplebock last night. She couldnít finish hers. The chinese tea added to the beer gives it a decidedly funky finish which gets stronger and more noticeable as the beer warms. I choked down the remainder of the both beers and paid for it this morning. If nothing else the beer makes a good liquid laxative.
The beer starts out when cold as a nice tasting Dopplebock. The tea comes through as a nebulous smoky, BBQ like flavor in the finish. This becomes more and more noticable as the beer warms then becomes overwhelming.
The beer was very murky and left a lot of sediment in the bottle and a bit in the glass. I couldnít see where the beer was bottled conditioned so I assume it was just a poor job of clarifying the beer before bottling. I would not buy this beer again or recommend it. I prefer my beer straight up, and my tea either iced or hot, but do not mix the two. Left Hand should have done the same they ruined what could have been a good weizen dopplebock.

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
In short: A spicy sticky mess
How: Tap at Rattle íNí Hum, NY
The look: Cloudy brown-burgundy body with almost not head
In long: strange nose with a weird array of spices (horseradish, green peppers, etc.), bubble gum and tree sap. Really off-putting aroma. Taste is just as gross. Tasted like spiced up resinous tree sap, taffy candy sticky liquorice, bubble gum. Overall sensation of a bubbly alcoholised drink with artificial flavors. Pretty damn bad. This TNT is a real bomb.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a dark brown. Moderate tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma and flavor are all smoke, all the time. I donít get any tea flavors. Just a lot of waht tastes like mesquite smoke. I really wanted to like this one, but it was just way too one-dimensional. Disappointing.

Left hand tnt at pap 5/13/11
Dark woody brown with a light brown head.
A= naners, smoke, clovey spice and a ton of tea,
Paper bag, raisin.
F is wrought with tea.... Too much dominates what would prolly otherwise be a decent weizein bock... If not a touch sweet. Too floral.
Lingering at is a bit sulfury and smoky.
Texture is a bit starchy, a little thick and sweet.
Ruined a good beer with creativity...

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma is smoke. Flavor is smoke, finish is smoke. Okay seriously I get weizen bock characteristics but the smoke is so prominent that it eclipses everything. Iíll pass next time. Thanks for the try though argo0!

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
NO NO NO....Hard to finish this beer. Split a bomber (thank God I shared) Poured dark brown with an average frothy brown head that lasted, with good lacing. Moderate roasted malt, wet wood and horrible smoke aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and light carbonation. Medium smoked sweet flavor with a medium smooth sweet finish. Some Tastes I canít pin point, maybe itís the Tea? Bad combination, no balance. By far Left Hands worst brew, I have an Imperial Stout from them next....Stay tuned.(I love the description, though)

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at FW Gman. The beer was served in a Chimay Trappist glass. A little strange for the style but Iíll go with it. This beer pours a very dark brown to almost black color. Not much light gets through this puppy. There is also a nice beige head on top of it.†
The aroma reminds me of one of my home-brews. It is fairly roasted with a dark fruit/homebrew yeast aroma. Not sure how to describe this but I can picture the homebrew it smells like as I drank one just yesterday.†
The flavor is....interesting. This beer is obviously smoked, which I often times do not care much for. The smoke in this comes off beefy and very aggressive. They used a lot of peated malt in this and it shows. After awhile the smoke eases off just a bit and it becomes slightly more approachable. Dark malts and roast prevail throughout.†

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours dark brown with a very fizzy temporary dark tan head. The aroma is smoke. Good old Lapsang Souchong! Med + body. Flavor is primarily smoke. Itís more astringent than sweet - though sweet is firmly present. Takes me back to my old tea drinking days.
