See me blow out your teapot. I’m from the Chinese era Qing. Big batch of bad-ass brew, I will make you sing. Women on the left of me, men on my right. Ain’t got no corn, ain’t got no rice. I’m just malty nice. Cause I’m TNT. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for what everyone else is having. -The Brewers at Left Hand -The Crew at the Tea Spot TNT Weizen Doppelbock with Lapsang Souchong Tea

Bomber. Poured deep brown with a dense, long-lasting khaki head. The aroma was sweet with toasty darker fruits, treacle, and bready malts with overripe bananas and a totally weird dose of smoked tea around.. very odd with the tea, but it was interesting. The flavor found deeper chocolate-covered bananas and bready malts at the core.. some clove, more banana, and tea around.. finished with odd, sweet and smoked tea over tangy wheat. Medium-bodied and increasingly tangy/smoky as it warmed up.. in the end there was just too much tea for my liking.. strange brew.

Draft at the Rackhouse in Denver, CO. Pours a deep, dark chocolate brown cor that’s almost black and completely opaque with a one finger off white/light beige head that quickly settles into a thin lasting ring. Minimal spots of lace left behind. Very smokey aroma that smells almost burnt with hints of charcoal, butane and campfire with sweeter notes underneath, especially chocolate and toffee. The smoke kind of overpowers though with an ashy character. Medium bodied with a strange combination of burnt smokiness and sweeter malt. Unpleasant burnt malt flavor that tasted like charcoal and ashtray. Not in a good way like most smoked beers. Sweet chocolate toffee and caramel and maybe even some dark fruit. I know that this is made with tea but it doesn’t taste like it. Not herbal at all, just smokey and not very flavorful or complex. Overall this was very disappointing. A weizenbock made with tarry schong tea made me excited for a complex smokey wheat beer but it’s kind of a one dimensional mess.

Opaque dark brown appearance with a thin tan head. Dark chocolate and smoke aroma. Smoked chocolate and coffee taste. Somewhat sweet, and not too hoppy. Very Good.

Via trade with Blutt59. Aroma is smoky, sweet, banana. The smoke gives it a bacon-like quailty. The appearance is deep brown, light tan head. The flavor is smoky, salty, banana, clove, ripe fruit, brown sugar, bubble gum. Very smoky and very sweet. Wierd, but I’m liking it. The finish is purely smoke, light piney hops emerge after a while. Medium/thick in body, creamy mouthfeel. Different and interesting. An underrated gem in my opinion. BTW, where is the tea in this?? Thanks, Bob.

22 oz. bottle shared by shigadeyo. Pours a muddy brown color with a small disappearing beige head. The aroma was overly sweet with caramel and fruits. The smoky qualities don’t fit well with the sweetness. There is an additional spiciness that seems out of place too. The flavors fight with each other rather than blend together. Sweet caramel, savory bacon, fleshy fruits, smoked barbecue, peppery spice have this beer going in different directions. This is too much to enjoy.

From tap at Gingerman. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan, creamy and dense head. Aroma is roasted malty, meaty and vague smoked. Towards bacon. Sweet and bacon-ish smoked flavoured. Lingering dark roasted malty into the finish. Lasting bacon impression.

Pours a hazy dark brown with a medium head that dissipates quickly. Smells very malty with a hint of smoke. The flavor is a bit sour on the nose and then moves into a smokey bitter taste. The beer doesn’t have much body in the mouth and explodes into foam a bit. An interesting flavor, I guess, but not my favorite.

Bomber. Pours a dark chestnut base color with weird hints of kalamata olive at the far edges. An initially fluffy head of khaki foam recedes almost instantly, leaving no lace or residual foam. The nose shows notes of caramel, milky chocolate, and brown sugar coated dates in the malt base, with odd spice notes of smoked sorghum, bubble gum, and perhaps some candied ginger. It smells very sweet, almost completely void of hop character. Flavors are just as odd, again very sugary and caramel driven, hinting at the cheap chocolate and lactic sugars of malted Milk Duds. The smokiness of the Lapsang Souchong is distinct, though I’m not sure it matches up with the rest of the brew. There’s a very artificial sort of bubblegum reaction going on that I don’t really care for, and there’s also a weird herbal bitterness on the back end. The palate is dense and sugary, light on carbonation, and just too weighty to drink much of. Overall, I’d call this one a miss. Not a fan.
