2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 WesKBob (541) - Bethany, USA - JUL 19, 2011
Pours a dark brown. Moderate tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma and flavor are all smoke, all the time. I don’t get any tea flavors. Just a lot of waht tastes like mesquite smoke. I really wanted to like this one, but it was just way too one-dimensional. Disappointing.

On tap at the brewery, dark black pour with thin off white head, aroma has notes of lots of smoke, tea leaves, hints of caramel, bacon, toffee, some slight yeasty spice as well with a hint of fruit. Taste is a mix of smoke, tea leaves, some slight toffee, bacon/meaty notes, touch of roast, slight banana and fruits, finishing with a hint of spice and dry.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dorwart (2164) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - MAR 30, 2012
About a 2 inch strong head of light brown, dense and creamy bubbles. Lots of smokey aroma with some beef jerky, synthetic liquid smoke, sweet malts and some molasses. Color is a very dark brown. Light fizzyness in the mouth. Strong roasted flavors with some smoked grains, sweet dopplebocky malts, little bit of raisin and some salted beef again. Light alcohol presence. Not so sure where the wheat flavors and texture are with this brew. Not your traditional weizen dopplebock and not an improvement on the style.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Fatehunter (160) - - MAR 4, 2012
Poured into a tulip glass. Dark brown and bubbly. The head was a bunch of bubbles that only formed into a head for a few seconds.
Smells like smoke, lots of it. Exactly like a raunchier. There is also the smell of black olives.
It tastes smokey too. Also roasted malt and bacon.
Lots of carbonation, light body and stickiness to the texture.
I like the smokey smell and taste, but the other tastes and texture are just not fitting together for me. Worth trying if only for its uniqueness.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jtclockwork (3844) - , New Jersey, USA - FEB 29, 2012
Bottle thanks to Tim. Pours dark brown - almost black - with brown head. Nose/taste of tea leaves, smoked malt and peat. Some hints of banana. Tea really dominates the taste whereas the peat and smoked malt are more dominating on the nose. Medium to light/medium body.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 mcnealc31 (173) - Elida, Ohio, USA - JAN 26, 2012
Pours a rich, deep brown. Nose is a mix of tobacco, smoke, and cherries. Leather and smoke dominate the flavor. Cherries make an appearance, and the tea comes in late. There is a dry and bitter finish that I would associate with overdone unsweetened iced tea.
As I’m getting into it more and it warms, the smoke and leather are becoming more tame and the bad iced tea flavor is going away. More dark fruit flavors are coming out. And a hint of bacon.
I can’t say I love this, and I can’t say I hate it. But it’s different and worth trying
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BBB63 (5039) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JAN 21, 2012
Bomber bottle and served in a Ayinger weizen glass: Pours a deep murky brown with a creamy small tan head and left good lace upon the glassware. The aroma has notes of roast, pipe tobacco, leather, chocolate, liquorice, banana, clove and all those yeasty esters you expect from the genre. Do not really get much tea like vapours. The taste is more the same, a nice combination of malty bock notes over a layer of forceful weizen tones with a complex acidic and earthy background. On the palate I do get some tea leafy notes, pipe tobacco and a moderate smoky character that is quite nice... yeah it is like a Smoked Weizen Dopplebock and I like it! The mouth feel is smooth and lush without being sticky nor oily. Slightly astringent and ashy finish. Overall a real winter warmer and hit the spot. Gotta get another bottle or two.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 shrubber85 (5066) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JAN 19, 2012
Bottle. Smoked ham and malt aroma. Dark brown color with small head. Sweet malt and smoked ham flavor. Lightly bitter herbal hops finish. I’m not a huge fan of this combination of sweetness and smokiness - would have loved this if the sweetness were much more subdued.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Peacehammer (252) - California, USA - JAN 11, 2012
22oz Bottle into a tulip.
Dark black color. But not thick tasting like a stout. Strong tea aroma and flavor. I’d think If you are a fan of that style of tea you’d love this beer but it isn’t my favorite.
4.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20 Cinsan (4) - Colorado, USA - JAN 1, 2012 does not count
I really enjoyed this beer. It had a smok flavor, with a slight hint of tea. Was not sure about this combo, but it was great. Flavors roll in your mouth!

Looks good but falls way short. Large foaming.g cascading foam. Dark brown fine mostly lasting. Strange off aroma dull and lifeless. Strange flat offmalty palate. Dough dark malt aroma. Pass.
