Commercial Description:
Thanks for purchasing another offering in our series of "Big Mo" Beers. For as long as people have inhabited Colorado's Front Range, the Twin Sisters have had a strong impact on Colorado residents. The views from atop the 11,428' peaks are breathtaking and afford sweeping views of the entirety of Rocky Mountain National Park. As an expression of admiration we have crafted an ale that exhibits a profound impact all its own. At 11428 IBU's (just kidding), Twin Sisters is a mountainous testament to hops, and that they bring. A feeling of ease and relaxation become apparent for all whom would dare to climb it. So for all that enjoy summiting ales with copious hops additions to achieve a felling of contentment and awe, we offer Twin Sisters Double IPA. Enjoy!

Lovely auburn color, pale amber, near crimson, fluffy head, staying, nice, big carbonation...like it... Beautiful hops greet the nose at the front, citric, grapefruity, a bit of banana and pineapple also...quite pleasing in the olfactory. Full flush phalanx of hops blast on the tongue, a treat for the senses. Delicious. Bright fruity flavor, lush malt, well-balanced, not too bitter, but hoppy all the way. Strength isn’t felt all the way, until,... whoa, there it is... Dangittydang, very tasty and sweet, not too bitter, as I said...soft, rather easy-going, despite the high hoppiness and booze-isity. I’m still not sure that it’s worth $11 for the 750ml bottle, but now the choice is up to you, dear reader, act on your own, buy or no buy, but it is an enjoyable DIPA, so take that to your money changer.

Bomber from Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Honey amber color with a multi-finger frothy head that seems to stick around. Aroma of smooth, fruity hop over a little roasted caramel. Very smooth and medium plus body with creamy/frothy carbonation. The hop is smooth, strong and fruity/citrus/resin. There’s a decent malt backbone to support it. It finishes somewhere between astringent and bitter. Label is a bit damaged; can’t find a date; bet it’s fresh though.

2006 bottle. clear copper pour. rich malty, earthy hops. apricot aroma. rich, earthy, funk, light bitterness. This beer is disappointing. I tried it a couple years before and hoped it was a bad bottle. This has not improved too much with age.

labeled as a "Double IPA Ale". does that make this a double IPAA? cloudy amber color, medium off-wheat head, some lacing. floral hops, citrus hops in the nose. flavor of caramel, but not much citrus or floral hoppiness as indicated in the aroma. the 9.6% abv is well-hidden (not always a good thing. who doesn’t appreciate an alcohol kick now and then?). oily, full mouth-feel. mildly bitter finish. you’ld think this one would be a slam dunk for me, but there is something missing here. perhaps i was hoping more for a hop-bomb, full of citrus, pine, etc, and this one is a bit too mild. i guess if i am in a hurry to get drunk, this may be the one.

22oz bottle. Pours a hazy (slightly suprising) orangish color. Nose is piney hops (not resiny) no real discernable fruits but I do get a bit of apricot and some wierd nutmeg like spice. Taste is a bit of a letdown. Its flagrantly bitter as a double IPA should be but there is little citrus to it. its just harsh and biting. This lacks sophistication. Its not bad but it could have been much better. Seems like they used the wrong kinds of hops in this one. Its lacking any distinguishing body.

Aroma is a citric hop scent with an almost nutmeg like tone in the back. Color is a hazy bronze with good carbonation and a thick tight head. Taste is hoppy and smooth. Starting with a medium body it goes down smooth and rich. Finish jumps out hoppy with an even mix of citrus and floral hop flavor this is followed by a nice maltiness that seems to have a hint of fruit then a bold bitter bite. After taste is more bitterness and a lingering citrus. This is an excellent Double IPA, its got bold hop flavor with out assaulting you with too much citrus.
