3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours very dark brown with a slight beige/tan head. Aroma is a bit alcohol, a bit vanilla, and maybe a bit bourbon. Med body. Flavor is rather fruity in a dark way and thereís a strong coffee aspect. The smoothness of a BA stout is not quite as strong as many, but that liquid sweetness is present, and itís quite offset by bitter and burnt malt. Wish I could imagine cherry! I think I can imagine oak though. Looks like I got a good bottle.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured clear reddish brown color with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate chocolate, woody and nutty malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet fruit flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where met, but not great.

Bottle - Getting the cork out of the bottle helped me work up a thirst, but it was well worth the work. Poured out as a black hue with dark brown medium head. Complex aroma of roasted malt, coffee and woody aroma of oak. Full bodied flavor as complex as aroma with long creamy finish. Alcohol is high, but did not cause the finish to be bitter. Great beer for long cigar.

Bottled. Dark amber/reddish coloured. Light brown head. aroma of light roast, vague liqourice, cocoa, a light tone of fruits. flavour of liqourice, sweetness, caramel, light roast, cocoa. medium to full bodied. fruity roasty bitterness in the end.

Bottled: Dark brown/red coloured. Light brown head. Aroma is malyt, light roasty and has some notes of berries. Flavour of chocolate, malt and alcohol. Ends on a chocolatish and grassy note and has some alcoholwarmth on the palate. This is a good Imp. stout and easy to drink in spite of the high ABV. IMO the barrelaging has not contributed anything to this beer. We tried the 2 beers side by side, and they were totally similar. Hense equal ratings.

The pour is a fairly dark brown color with a finger of khaki colored head. What a truly strange aroma. Thereís a bit of coffee and chocolate in there, but also some butter and a definite grassiness. Maybe a bit of smoke in there, too. It smells quite dusty, too. Oh wow, that flavor is bad. Sort of sour and acrid with bad coffee and chocolate flavors. Thereís a hint of smoke, maybe some wood, and a bit of ash and cigarette. Not good at all. Medium body with a medium level of carbonation.
