Bottled: Dark brown/red coloured. Light brown head. Aroma is malyt, light roasty and has some notes of berries. Flavour of chocolate, malt and alcohol. Ends on a chocolatish and grassy note and has some alcoholwarmth on the palate. This is a good Imp. stout and easy to drink in spite of the high ABV.

Cool label, good stout. Itís a bit too sweet for me (as are most of the imperial stouts that Iíve tried) but pretty good none the less. Iím surprised about the 10% ABV because I can barely taste the alcohol over the sweetness. There is just a hint of it at the back of the mouth after a swig (although the alcohol is evident in the aroma).

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2007 Bottle, I must say, right off this poured kind of loose for an Impy. Big foamy head that diminished but clung to the side of the glass. Aroma is light, some coffee and roasting and licorice. Color is dark brown, not that It had to be dark black but....Wow! flavor big. Lots of coffee and roasted malts and Lots of licorice. Then the alcohol kicks in. I am liking this more and more. I really need to keep better records, I get this in a trade and, I am not sure from where, I think Richlikebeeer? At any rate, if Big stouts are for you, get your paws on this one. Re-Rate, my bottle was packed on 8-10-04, and I took a few points of, the alcohol really takes over as it warms more, and takes away some of the flavor.

flemdawg (524) - Naples, Florida, USA - FEB 1, 2005
Deep dark brown with a tan head of fine bubbles that left some good lacing as well. Lots of coffee in the aroma with hints of alcohol, cocoa and malts. Some coffee in the taste but much more alcohol comes through. There is also chocolate, some rasins and hints of smoke. Too much alcohol though. Thingly mouthfeel, and sort of thick.

Bottling date of 08/10/04. A medium sized off white tan head. The body allows some dark amber coloring through. Not a very black imperial stout. The smells are two day old coffee, dark chocolate and some prunes. The taste has a fairly sweet oatmeal with some sugary coffee. A little bit of maple and some alcohol warmth in the finish. A little rough on the edges. Could use some aging. Nice effort, but nothing special.

22oz bottle. Well, I canít call this an Imperial Stout...I mean, itís brown and you can see through it! I really canít find any roastiness in it either. Was this a mistake? It does end up being a pretty nice beer though, nice and hoppy. Just certainly not what I expected to come out of the bottle.

Poured a clear dark brown with a small tan head. Aromas of coffee, milk chocolate and lightly fruity in the background. Flavor was malty..roasty, chocolatey with a long coffee finish. The end also consisted of alcohol taste and a good amount of warmth. This is not the first bottle I have had of this and for some reason this one seemed thinner than before to the point that I would call it light to medium bodied.

Pours a deep dark brown, almost black color with a minimal, small head. Aroma is very choclately, dark fruits and a touch of vanilla. Not as thick bodied as say the old Speedway, yet it is a full-bodied Imperial Stout. Malts are chocolate, with touches of dark fruit, rum, vanilla and smoke. Hops are mild and spicy. Nice and smooth taste, very creamy. Hides the 10% alcohol very well. This is a very nice Imperial Stout. Yummy, mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and very smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with a touch of coffee and chocolate.

Dark brown in color with slight reddish tinge. Almost no head. Cocoa and alcohol in aroma. Sweet, malty, roasty flavor. Not as strong as others in this style. Bitterness in aftertaste. Missing something.
