3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bomber. This poured out a lighter black color almost a dark brown with a light tan head. The head grew gradually as the bubbles cascaded to the top of the glass to form the head, it disappeared soon after leaving little lace or evidence it was ever there. Dark fruits stand out the most in nose with a bit of coffee and earthy hops mingling about. There are also notes of maple syrup. The flavor was of sweet malts with a bit of coffee and spice thrown in. Earthy hops were present as well along with a bit of sourness. The finish had a nice lingering coffee flavor. Mouthfeel was about medium a little thin for the style but still creamy. Drinkability is fairly good with no alcohol being present in the taste or smell but a warming effect is noticed after a few sips. Overall a decent imperial stout but not one that I would put high up on my list of favorites for the style.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: First impression is that coming out of the bottle it looks real thin for an imperial. Very nice aroma. Strong malty chocolate presence with some black licorice really making it’s presence known. Real light alcohol in there too. Dark brown with some hints or red if held to the light. Not nearly as dark as most imperials. Small tan head that fades quickly. Malty chocoalte up front mixed with some black licoorice. Has a little roastiness in the finish with some coffee and very light alcohol. This is thin for an imperial. Smells and tastes like an imperial, just doesn’t look and feel like one. Imperial expectations in appearance and palate are what keep this from feach 4+ status. Regardless, still very good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very small head, fair lacing. Red brown (dark) body (not totaly opaque). Fruity aroma with tones of caramel, grape, nuts and alcohol. In my mouth, light sweetness, alcohol as well as light acidity. Medium body, flat to soft carbonation, a very subtle astringent note as final feel. Sampled at MartinT’s place with other RateBeerians for the "Montreal’s Voyager Par Les Papilles’ first tasting session".

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2003 bottle:Opaque black with red highlights at the edges only. Head collapses rather quickly and is dark tan in color. Aroma of chocolate milk, toasted nuts, and dark fruit. Flavor of toasted nuts, earthy hops, milk, dark chocolate, subtle roast, and dark fruit. Good dose of hop acidity to cleanse the palate. Creamy and med/full body.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: MAR 19, 2007 2004 bottle. Moderately dense, blackish-brown with some lighter brownish-red tinges on the edge. Medium beige head. Aroma of roast and toast, spanish coffee, fresh hops and alcohol. Flavor shows coffee, plenty of roast, some sweet barley notes, a hint of chocolate and a decent amount of alcohol. Moderate amount of filtration, as there was only a touch of sediment at the bottom. Though it has a touch of cream/vanilla notes, it’s a bit dry/harsh and has too much thinning on the end. I have not been impressed with the mouthfeel of this brewery’s beers.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours an opaque black with a thin beige head. Roasted malt aroma with hints of coffee; flavor is rich, malty and sweet with a touch of chocolate and a definite alcohol presence. A silky mouthfeel with a dry, lingering aftertaste. A nice stout, but the alcohol is a bit too prevalent for my taste.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A solid if simple stout. Very balanced flavors of dark chocolate, coffee and malt. Somewhat sweet and a dab of hop or two along with the super smooth balance makes for an easy stout even people who arent fans of stouts will enjoy.
Pours with pretty much no head, my second glass of it I poured badly on purpose to see how much head I’d get, by the time I rasied the glass to my mouth there was none.
Awesome bottle design.
