Here’s a black ale to brighten your day. Wake Up Dead lurks in our cellars for over 4 months before being unleashed. Hints of raisins, black licorice, coffee and dark chocolate are followed by earthy, herbal hop notes. Any apprehensions about the rest of your day are quickly forgotten, for whatever the mind expects, it finds. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for what everyone else is having.

Bottle @ home.
Clear dark black color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, coffee, moderate hoppy, light alcohol and english licorice. Initail flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter, finish flavor is moderate sweet and biiter with a average to long duration, and a dry almost dusty finish. (Bitternes is both malt and hops). Body is medium, texture is oily and smooth, carbonation is soft. Very easy to drinke. (240408)

CBF07 sample from 22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a whuite head. Aroma of dark coffee. Flavour is chocolate and coffee, some hops, but nothing that brakes the dark notes. Finish is long and dark, again not really hoppy. Dry finish

4th December 2008. Nose of marmite and a little chocolate. Smooth with a little minerally effervescence to start. This is followed by a little fruit and coca cola. Next is an aniseed - licorice tone. Finished with a slightly roasted malt and a small amount of coffee. Complex and unusual.

2012-11-28, draught at La Fine Mousse, Paris, 6-4-8-4-14=36
Black color, with creamy head. Very mild aroma, some alcohol, light roasted malts. Good body strength, with round mouthfeel; very good flavor of roasted malts and dark chocolate, with strong bitterness and warming alcohol; some late liquorice too, and light salty feeling.
Excellent flavor, not so much the aroma.

2006-12-23, Draught at Flying Saucer, San Antonio, 7-4-8-4-16=39
Dark brown color. Some aroma of roasted malt. Good body strength, with a good mix of caramel, roasted malt and coffee, with a light liquorice touch. Warming alcohol.

2005-02-12, bottle
Dark amber color, too simple aroma; taste of malt, caramel, too much alcohol, high bitterness, quite good.

2003-11-15, bottle, 6-3-8-4-14=35
Dark amber color. Simple roasted malt aroma, sweet; phenol and liquorice. Strong mouthfeel, oily, with some phenol; a lot of malt, caramel, roasted malt, nuts. Well hopped. Nothing special.
