Here’s a black ale to brighten your day. Wake Up Dead lurks in our cellars for over 4 months before being unleashed. Hints of raisins, black licorice, coffee and dark chocolate are followed by earthy, herbal hop notes. Any apprehensions about the rest of your day are quickly forgotten, for whatever the mind expects, it finds. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for what everyone else is having.

3 year old bottle that aged nicely. Somewhat vinous nose. Big roasted character in the first sip. Medium bodied with a little oiliness to it. Alcohol seemed a little burning. Very drinkable.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Inky black with a thin white head. It has a very rich liquorice and chocolate flavour with spicy red fruity notes on the warming finish. Pretty good but a little too powerful.

Dark color, light brownish head, the smell is strong on the licorice and coffee, hints of chocolate. The taste is bitter sweet but the bitterness is way over the top! I didn’t expect this to be so bitter! This may sound weird but this beer after swallow is a lot like Pliny, that’s how better it is after the swallow.

Bottled Nitro-version: Aroma is hard roasted malts, coffee and dark choclates. Taste is... well let’s start with the foam here. Poured right (hard) the foam is absolutely delicious. Supercreamy. Like taking a bit on a chocolate cloud. The beer itself delivers the stuff you remember from the regular version. A somewhat soft mouthfeel, but still potent and heavy flavors of wood, soy, bitter chocolates and bitter coffee. A bit of raisins and dried fruits in here as well.

Nitro bottle from LaBodega, black beer, big walnut colored head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, toasted barley. Taste is coffee, chocolate, vanilla, toasted barley, molasses, cookies. Palate is super smooth and nitro rich, carbonation very soft and subdued. This is a great stout, but only average as an imperial stout.

Svart med høyt beige skum som ligger godt. Luktet kaffe, toast, soya, mørk sjokolade og salt lakris. Fyldig. Salt lakris og soya. Nøtter, mørk sjokolade, noe kakao og toast. Saltbitter lang avsluttning.
