COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here’s a black ale to brighten your day. Wake Up Dead lurks in our cellars for over 4 months before being unleashed. Hints of raisins, black licorice, coffee and dark chocolate are followed by earthy, herbal hop notes. Any apprehensions about the rest of your day are quickly forgotten, for whatever the mind expects, it finds. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for what everyone else is having.

Skummar fantastiskt härligt när jag kastar runt den i munnen. Jag hatar att skriva kommentarer.

Keg at brewdog. Pours black, smoky burnt berry taste, light sweetness, chocolate, very bitter. Burnt taste recedes as it warms.

Pours black, thick, and a tiny tan head. Smells of sour milk and light chocolate. Tastes of sweet alcohol, chocolates, and a tiny bit of fruit.

Smells of dark chocolate, black licorice, coffee with cream and slight hops. No alcohol at all in the aroma. Pours a nearly pitch black color with a huge tan head. Taste is roasty, a bit too salty like beef bouillon. Also in the taste you get licorice, some dark fruit, sharp hops and an earthy/soil type quality. Slight alcohol burn in the after taste. Palate is too weak for the style. Overall not bad but there are a lot of good imperial stouts out there. I probably wouldn't buy this one again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle sample at tasting at Beer & Beyond, Tel Aviv. Deep black with small brownish head. Very rich aroma of milk chocolate, dulce de leche, quite sweet, some prune, faint licorice notes. Very sweet flavor of milk chocolate, raisin, prune, some date honey, somewhat spicy, roasted malt notes and light sourness. Light carbonation, medium to full-bodied. Excellent.

Bottle bought at GBBF 2014, imbibed 03/01/15. Huge disappointment. Expecting a top stout, instead got a bloody marmite beer. I don’t mean a beer you love or hate, but a beer that tastes like bloody marmite. Smells of marmite with a hint of the old Cadbury’s chocolate spread (a chocolate spread available in the 70s/80s before the invention of the hazelnut!)....and it tastes of, yes, you’ve guessed it, marmite (with a hint of chocolate & raisins). Wake Up Disappointed.

Bottle. Pours clear semi-dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is licorice, cocoa, bread, coffee, dark sugars, soy, earthy hops, booze and dark fruit. Taste is moderate sweet, bitter and a little salty. Body is medium, texture is viscous, carbonation is near flat. Finishes dry, dusty, roasted and a little bitter with quite some burn. Somewhat incoherent, the low carbonation and the surprisingly narrow palate.

SamP01 (601) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 19, 2014
Pours deep black with a small quickly fading tan head. Aroma and Taste is sweet dark malts, caramel, licorice, cacao and coffee flavors with some bit of dark fruit notes. Palate is a full creamy body, carbonation is very mild. Finishes with the same sweet dark malt and caramel undertones, licorice dark chocolate and coffee flavors. Carbonation seemed very low as well as any bitter notes to balance. Overall a good flavorful brew.

Poured dark black from a bomber. Thin khaki head. Aromas of raisin or other dark dried fruit and licorice. Taste of chocolate malt and coffee with a little licorice. Nice thick mouth feel. Little to no alcohol warmth. Covered very nice for a 10.2 ABV. Very nice beer highly recommended.

Bomber into a pint glass. Pours black, with a dense tan head that lasts. Good lacing. Not much on the nose, and taste is dark fruit and coffee. Nicely balanced stout.
