Hereís a black ale to brighten your day. Wake Up Dead lurks in our cellars for over 4 months before being unleashed. Hints of raisins, black licorice, coffee and dark chocolate are followed by earthy, herbal hop notes. Any apprehensions about the rest of your day are quickly forgotten, for whatever the mind expects, it finds. Sometimes youíre not in the mood for what everyone else is having.

A creamy malty aroma that smells similar to my morning coffee .Nice brownish/black color. Starts of mildly sweet with hints of liquorice . Nice creamy finish with a taste of coffee and vanilla with hints of raisin. No doubt better than Old Rasputin

Dark Roasty aroma with little black licorice. Smooth Nitro texture. Chocolate, licorice, little coffee. Pretty heavy body but very drinkable.

Released April 22 at Systembolaget in Sweden.

Iíve had Wake Up Dead in a big bottle (22 oz) in 2013 and Iíve been looking forward to try the nitro version.

The beer pours clear, dark brown with a mahogny tone and a one finger high soft and creamy, beige, "nitro" head.

Nose of roasted caramel malt, coffee, fudge, molasses, brown sugar, dark fruit (raisin, plum) and licorice.
The taste is a lot similar; coffee, sweet licorice, roasted malt, brown sugar, vanilla and milk chocolate.
Mouth: Smooth and bitter. Sweet, dry ending. Not as thick as I remembered it. Still good though!

A great stout but I donít think it is getting any better with the nitro. Definitely not worth the money Iíll have to pay here in Sweden; 53 SEK (6:50 USD).

Had the Nitro bottle. Pours a silky black with a tight tan head. Very little aroma to speak of but what is there smells of chocolate and coffee. Nice flavors of coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, raisins and licorice at the end. A somewhat creamy body with bitterness. Overall it was pretty good and interesting to have a Nitro Imperial Stout, but there are certainly much better Imperial Stouts out there.

Pitch black with off white head. Powerful cocoa aroma with strong vanilla. Smooth and creamy taste of cocoa with low carbonation. Slightly bitter finish with a sting. Good stuff!

Originally rated as íL.H. Imperial Stoutí on 8/ 28/08. Left Hand I.S. poured a black body, turning into a deep ruby when held to light. A creamy thin cap, with a little carbonation left some lace. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and alcohol. Taste was similar with the alcohol dominating the intial sip, turning into a sweet malty body, and then a coffee aftertaste. Mouthfeel is a bit light however. Overall its a pretty decent brew, I will have to try more of the Left Hand brew Co. products

Pours jet black with a creamy tan head that lasts forever. Nose is bittersweet chocolate, coffee, and fig, with more muted notes of date, anise and vanilla. Taste is a great complex blend of cocoa, vanilla bean, coffee, dark fruits, licorice, and alcohol, with the licorice (thankfully) more in the background than the rest. Very good stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nitro. Pours with thick, creamy tan head and pitch black body. Head is so creamy and milky, slightly sweet, but also with considerable hop bitterness and good roastiness. Flavors are again sweet but not cloying, roasty, with a hoppy punch that keeps this from being too dangerously easy to drink. Even with the hops, this goes down a lot easier than its 10.2% suggest.

On tap nitro at Hopcat. Amazing. Dark smooth and boozy, all at the same time. Save forever.
