Here’s a black ale to brighten your day. Wake Up Dead lurks in our cellars for over 4 months before being unleashed. Hints of raisins, black licorice, coffee and dark chocolate are followed by earthy, herbal hop notes. Any apprehensions about the rest of your day are quickly forgotten, for whatever the mind expects, it finds. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for what everyone else is having.

Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass. A: Roasted malt, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, light molasses, and licorice notes. Big chocolate malts are the feature here. A: Pours deep brown with a tiny ring of bubbles surrounding the brim of the glass. T: Complex, but well balanced. Strong flavors of roasted malts and chocolate but nothing overpowering. Slightly more alcoholic than the nose lets on. P: Medium body and low carbonation, with a super smooth and creamy body. Maybe a little thin for the style and flavor. O: This is a solid beer, but nothing amazing. Fairly balanced flavors with decent complexity and quite smooth to sip on.

Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is slightly of bitter dark chocolate but it’s very faint. Licorice and roasted malts, boozy flavour. Lovely smooth palate.

Dark color, light brownish head, the smell is strong on the licorice and coffee, hints of chocolate. The taste is bitter sweet but the bitterness is way over the top! I didn’t expect this to be so bitter! This may sound weird but this beer after swallow is a lot like Pliny, that’s how better it is after the swallow.

Bottled Nitro-version: Aroma is hard roasted malts, coffee and dark choclates. Taste is... well let’s start with the foam here. Poured right (hard) the foam is absolutely delicious. Supercreamy. Like taking a bit on a chocolate cloud. The beer itself delivers the stuff you remember from the regular version. A somewhat soft mouthfeel, but still potent and heavy flavors of wood, soy, bitter chocolates and bitter coffee. A bit of raisins and dried fruits in here as well.

Nitro bottle from LaBodega, black beer, big walnut colored head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, toasted barley. Taste is coffee, chocolate, vanilla, toasted barley, molasses, cookies. Palate is super smooth and nitro rich, carbonation very soft and subdued. This is a great stout, but only average as an imperial stout.

Bottle. Pours a really deep black colour with a very thin beige head, aroma is malty with some hints of chocolate, taste is bitter with malt with a dry bitter finish.

Pours black with a short thick beige head totally generated by the nitrogen. (Pour it from a height and you get no more head). Aroma of coffee and a bit of chocolate. Taste the same with a bitter bite. Smooth and moderately heavy on the palate. Not bad.

Black color, brown frothy head. Coffe aromas, dark chocolate, roasted malt and some raisins. Taste is a bit off putting - sweet flavors with chocolate and malt, bitter with hops and coffe. I think it lacks balance. Bitter finish.

Svart med ett litet gult skum. Kallt kaffe, lakrits och rostade toner. Bitter rätt torr munkänsla. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
