3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
itís a nice mellow black pour out of the bottle with a creamy head. i underestimated on the glass size, so i had little room to pour a nice head. the aroma is really malty. while i am at the early stages of being a hophead, Left Hand did a wonderful job with this. the immediate flavor reveals an overwhelming amount of chocolate and caramel maltiness. itís like a liquid malt ball in my mouth, but creamier; itís almost pudding like. i also noticed a bit of butterscotch in the flavor. the finish was a little salty, but mixed with a touch of sweetness. my overall opinion is that its a nice balanced beer that has a very mellow, calming, complex flavor.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: near black, with a decently thick, creamy tan head for the abv. Aroma: chocolate, some black coffee, herbal/earthy hops, licorice, leather, and raisins. Taste: bittersweet chocolate dominates, with undercurrents of milk chocolate, coffee, cream, licorice, soy sauce, and a hint of vanilla. Finish: slightly sweet and a tad tangy, with a good dose of herbal/earthy hops as hinted at in the nose. Notes: This reminded me of nothing so much as an amped up version of Schlaflyís Dry Irish Stout, which is one of my favorite stouts. But it wasnít quite as good as that. It was pretty darn good, though, and the alcohol was decently hidden.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass.
A: Roasted malt, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, light molasses, and licorice notes. Big chocolate malts are the feature here.
A: Pours deep brown with a tiny ring of bubbles surrounding the brim of the glass.
T: Complex, but well balanced. Strong flavors of roasted malts and chocolate but nothing overpowering. Slightly more alcoholic than the nose lets on.
P: Medium body and low carbonation, with a super smooth and creamy body. Maybe a little thin for the style and flavor.
O: This is a solid beer, but nothing amazing. Fairly balanced flavors with decent complexity and quite smooth to sip on.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a bottle into tulip glass. Nitro version. Pours a nice deep black. Thin mouthfeel owing to the nitro. I'm a big fan of the Nitro version of Lefthand milk stout, but I'm not sure it works as well here. It leaves the beer somewhat underwhelming. Flavor has some nice, sharp cherry presence that then fades into a fairly bitter finish. A little disjointed but still good.

Dark brown, clear, beige head. Aroma is light, with a little cocoa, biscuit. Flavor: toffee, milk chocolate, dark fruit, a little tobacco note. Nitro gives it a lighter impression than most imperial stouts.

Bomber. Pours a very dark brown color. Large quantity of darker tan color head. Some lacing is present but dissipates fairly fast. I smell mostly sweet tones. Alcohol is immediately noticeable. I taste chocolate tones in the beer. Beer has a full pallet in the mouth. I liked drinking this beer.
