Poured into my Chimay Goblet, very thick and dark black, with a nice i finger head that diminishes into a nice ring! lacing was tight and dense! smell of coffee and Chocolate malts, very nice aroma!
Taste was coffee cocoa roasted malts with a nice lightly bitter finish! alot of RISís that i have had were very very bold big and strong almost to much for a full bottle! but this was the most drinkable RIS that i have had although not as complex as some very very drinkable!

Poured from bottle. Dark and rich color but aroma is very faint. Nothing really interesting about this beer. Middle of the road imperial stout.

A creamy malty aroma that smells similar to my morning coffee .Nice brownish/black color. Starts of mildly sweet with hints of liquorice . Nice creamy finish with a taste of coffee and vanilla with hints of raisin. No doubt better than Old Rasputin

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 ounce Nitro bottle pour. Pours a near black with a velvety head of khaki foam. Very good retention. Aroma is mildly roast and gently sweet. Some dark chocolate and licorice notes come through as well. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel with low, gentle carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aromas are faint but there are whiffs of chocolate and roast. Good mouthfeel being a nitro but there is not much depth of flavor, especially considering it is a Russian Imperial Stout. Finish is nice and creamy.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nitro bottle to glass. Pours brown and fades to black. Nitro cascade. Aroma is subdued, coffee notes and toasted malts. Taste is a mix of black coffee and milk chocolate. Alcohol burn is slight, but noticeable. Palate is smooth, to be expected of nitro pour. Not bad, but not my favorite.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nitro bottle. Pours inky black, one-inch mocha head. Fair lacing. Nose is roast, blackberry, a little smoke, chocolate. Whiffs of anise and berry, dark chocolate, iced coffee. Touch sweet on the finish. This on nitro is dangerous.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This one came from the E- beer pile (I'm not worried that no one else knows that term, person-who-is-for-some-reason-reading-this), so it might be slightly oxidized. It's a little sour. Still, it backs with a nice sweetness. It's a tasty Russian.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 oz bottle into a pint glass. 2011 vintage, I think.
A: Pours a dark ruby red color. Surprisingly, itís not completely opaque. The head is a one finger mocha shade with excellent retention for the style. Lacing is damn good, too. Apart from the minor "oh itís not pitch black" complaint, this looks damn good in a glass.
S: This is really sweet, and loaded with licorice - not my cup of tea. There are also some notes of brown sugar and dark fruits, which is more preferable to me. I also get some vanilla extract, which isnít. Also needs more roast. Not bad, though: Iím of the belief itís hard to screw up an imperial stout, and this certainly isnít screwed up. Just not great.
T: No bones about it, this oneís sweet...and boozy. It opens up with a tart fruit flavor, augmented with licorice (yikes) and vanilla. The finish also has some notes of smoke and vanilla, and a kick of booze. Every once in a while, I get a wisp of chocolate which I really enjoy. Thereís also a taste of oatmeal here. Itís pretty good, and better than the aroma...but imagine how good it would be if it had a roasted edge to it. This needs roast like Keira Knightley needs a sandwich or three. That, and some more complexity wouldnít hurt...
M: Nice and creamy with minimal carbonation. But, there could be some more body to help cover up the alcohol better. That, and it feels kind of boozy, thanks to the combination of oats and good attenuation. Still, Iíll always take a minor alcohol bite over a flabby, bloated feel devoid of booze (see: Stone IRS) any day. This would make an excellent winter warmer due to the way it warms the orifices up.
O: I think this is two and a half years old...and at this age, itís just ípretty goodí. Not amazing, just pretty good. That could mean it was a mediocre RIS that improved marginally, or was a great stout that kind of deteriorated. Since the brewers say it has a 7 year life, and that the general flavor profile doesnít agree with me, Iíll assume the former is true. Decent, but I probably wonít buy again.

This is a creamy wake up dead. Same great flavors of licorice, cocoa, plums. Great lacing and mouthfeel.

I really like this beer. Itís as advertised. The style rating is off for some reason. I will admit that its not as complex as some others... But this beer is rally rich and fulfilling just below room temperature. U have to let this baby warm up.

Bottle. Thick dark pour, not much head. Sweet nose of dark chocolate and cherries. Slightly boozy flavour, tastes a lot like dark chocolate covered cherries. Some notes of coffee and dark fruits. This bottle might have been a little older, so little if any hops. Not overly complex, but very tasty.
