COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here’s a black ale to brighten your day. Wake Up Dead lurks in our cellars for over 4 months before being unleashed. Hints of raisins, black licorice, coffee and dark chocolate are followed by earthy, herbal hop notes. Any apprehensions about the rest of your day are quickly forgotten, for whatever the mind expects, it finds. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for what everyone else is having.

como la rusa, the shiz Imperial Stout is a silky smooth, very flavorful black brew. It is a traditional style of strong stout originally brewed in Britain for export to St. Petersburg, Russia. The malty sweetness of the beer is tempered by a medley of roasted malt and the aggressive use of hops. A long conditioning time gives the brew time to mellow and mature. The beer is not filtered, allowing every subtlety and nuance to be enjoyed.

Pours black with a short thick beige head totally generated by the nitrogen. (Pour it from a height and you get no more head). Aroma of coffee and a bit of chocolate. Taste the same with a bitter bite. Smooth and moderately heavy on the palate. Not bad.

Black color, brown frothy head. Coffe aromas, dark chocolate, roasted malt and some raisins. Taste is a bit off putting - sweet flavors with chocolate and malt, bitter with hops and coffe. I think it lacks balance. Bitter finish.

Wake Up Dead Nitro has a medium, big-bubbled (at the top), beige head, a dark brown appearance, with standard brown picked up at the edges, and moderate lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of mildly-roasted malts, brown bread crust, and a bit of dried fruit. The flavor is of those elements, with some slight char, nougat, raisin, and fruit cake. Bitterness is present, but certainly not predominant. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and Wake Up Dead Nitro finishes medium dry. RJT

Not much in the area of aromatics (expected for a nitro), but it makes up for it with the ultra-smooth coffee and licorice/ fennel body and light hop finish. Leaves a crisp note on the lips while going down smooth.
