Bottle at Chriso tasting, thanks Chris, 18/11/12.
Hazed dark chestnut brown with a head that darts straight to the edge of the glass.
Light roast malt nose, vegetal tones, a little caramel and some light smoke.
Taste comprises lightly roasted malts, a little chocolate, molasses and liqourice,
Medium bodied with softish carbonation that is a little spritzy lending towards a dry finish.
There’s not too many US beers I have to file in the ’W’ draw but this is one of them.
Whelmed!

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 IPADad (4) - Massachusetts, USA - APR 23, 2010 does not count
Not too many of these around, especially from regional brewers. A bold addition to the local palate, this beer embraces its past and moves it carefully forward, inviting its drinker to explore its cousins and then come home to reaffirm how well Lefty’s has done.

A perfect English Porter...extremely smooth, great finish, nice rich coloring, with a nutty and mildly malty aftertaste. This is the best English Porter I have ever had.
3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 philvil (162) - Massachusetts, USA - MAR 15, 2010
Not much aroma and minimal carbonation, but one of the best tasting porters I’ve ever tried. Nice blend of chocolatey, nutty, caramel flavors all come together perfectly for a sweet treat. The english porter is not one of my go-to genres, so I’m surprising that I enjoyed this so much. Dark sweet beers could be Lefty’s specialty.
