Aroma is light bittersweet chocolate with a nice earthty maltiness. Flavor had a hidden grassy hoppinesa which balanced nicely. Finish was a bit short but tasty none the less. Sweet tastting and slightly hoppy. Quite tasty as a session beer and I can see myself drinking this at a bar for a couple of hours. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 29, 2007 Draft at DRE. This one pours deep brown with minimal off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, slight brown sugary and figgy fruit. The flavor starts roasty caramel malty, somewhat earthy and nutty, and picks up some finishing hop notes. Smooth and crisp. mtoast (290), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2007 On cask, 9/11/07. Pours a hazy mahoghany brown with white-ish foam that leave fantastic lacing. Aroma is all over the place, lots of malt with some herbal hop notes buried in there. Initial flavor is almost a shock, really big malt profile bordering on overly sweet with a fairly big bitter finish. As the pints dwindles, the flavors meld a little bit, but are still in sharp contrast. Only 4.5%? Not buying that, I would have put it around 6%. jason (1621), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
