3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: NOV 28, 2005 This was a great and different IPA. Seemed to have more flavor then the standard IPA, great aftertaste, very smooth.

Frothy white head covers the light hazy golden robe. Moderately malty aroma offers sharp honeyed malts notes that remain one step below the bursting orangey hops, apricot and pineapple hinting. Herbal in mouth, cookieish and rather citric. This is surprisingly dry for a medium to full bodied example. Active carbonation, oily and almost gritty texture.

Generous foam and lacing crown the diplomatic citrusy and wooden hop dryness. Too subtle to stand out, but nonetheless well-brewed.
Pulverising carbonation (almost Belgian-style?) pierces the ultra-dry and bitter hop habitat. Gets rough and leafy after a while, malt not doing much to help the tongue out. Well-made but unidimensional, and near-astringent.
Brawn with good intentions.

#2 in my sweep of Legacy drafts (after the Euphoria). Poured medium yellow with a white lacing head. Plenty of hops to go around in the aroma and flavor which was matched with a blend of floral, grasses and maybe some apricot. Light spice in the finish to compliment the dry hops.

Iíll agree with obxdudeís rating of "HHH", this IPA has some rough edges. Every sip my mouth was bitch slapped with a hop boom. More of a malt "backbone" would give this a West Coast flavor. Heavy Handed Hops is a not too subtle East Coast bitter IPA.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Main Line Brew Fest. Copper colored, with big resiny hop aroma. Tastes hoppy, with some maltiness and slight black pepper in the finish. Decent balance, but not my favorite IPA of the day.

Not a bad IPA but not a very impressive one though, light copper in color, generous off-white head with nice lacing around the glass, aroma full of hops, pine & lemon, not much malt in the body, thatís the major downfall of this beer, if this had a complimentary malt backbone this would be one outstanding IPA, but it very much lacked that character, super bitter body, great hoppy flavors, very dry, pine, lemon & citrus flavors, but it just lacked the malt to back it all up, very dry & very bitter finish & aftertaste, with a little tickering with the malt character this beer could be a very outstanding IPA
