0.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 1/20
Spanish Abbey beer? Nothing like any Begian abbey beers I know. Poured amber with a small head. Very unbalanced, started sweet, went sour and finished with a metallic chemical taste. One of the world´s worst beers.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours reddish copper, with a mostly receding white head. Aroma of toffee, plum, and caramelized aluefruits. Taste is caramelized wort, toffee, alefruits, a bit sticky and cloying. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a full carbonation. Not refreshing, not up to Belgian standards.

2.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: AUG 17, 2006 Clear, strawberry red body with a 1mm thick swirl of froth. Sweet, malty, faintly roasty, almost pecan/maple syrup-like (English hop?) aroma. But it’s downhill from there. Watery, squash-like mouthfeel. Finishes bluntly with a noxious, lingering chemical bitterness. Belgian ale?? Don’t make me laugh. By all means sniff this beer, but don’t drink it. A massive disappointment.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big offwhite head over deep dark brown body with some ongoing carbonation. Deep sweet aroma of malts, cinnamon, and notes of earth, chocolate, and caramel. Harmonic and good, maybe a bit cloying. Taste is sweet, spicy caramel and licorice, less cloying than the aroma. Some alcohol heat. Chocolate notes, some dryness. Quite smooth, and light without being watery. Some bitterness lingering. This is a good beer. (0.33l bottle.)

Bottle. An amber-coloured pour with a small head. A sweet malty aroma. Taste has malt, hops caramel/honey and roasted/biscuity notes. A nice malty finish. Average carbonation. One of the best Spanish beers I’ve had.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
330 ml bottle. Throws a fine laced medium-sized head. Complex malt aroma. Flavour is dominated by caramel and have notes of roasted nuts. Mouthfeel is rather thin. Aftertaste is soft with a subdued malt sweetness and a little hop bitterness. Complex at first, but finishes dull. Needs more malt body to stand out from the crowd.
