COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The is a pretty beer almost an amber/brown color. A well balanced beer that is great for the summer months. Unlike the porter, this is the beer that put them on the map.

Draft. Pours copper, with aroma of malt, toffee, brown sugar, hops, and cabernet. Tastes malty, rich, with some hops, brown sugar, and red wine at the finish. Nice balance and a great finish. I put this one up there with DFH Indian Brown Ale as great examples of the style.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2004 This is the first brown ale i ever had, and it still holds up to a lot of the great ones I have tried since then. I guess I like it more than most of the people that have already rated it. I have had it both on tap and out of the bottle, and as usual it is preferable on tap. Seems to have less of a taste than most browns, but i still like it.

Small off-white head, clear light brown body. Aroma is medium sweet, nutty. Taste is medium sweet, light nutty, malty, fnish with light roasty. Medium body.

Minimal white head, fades fast. Beautiful clarity, light brown brew. Bready, nutty nose, malty. Medium body somewhat creamy texture. Chocolate malt and yeast flavors, nutty. Malty, medium sweet finish.

Looks red to me, but call it a brown ale if you want. The beer is light, despite the color. More roasted malt in the flavor than anything else. It's average.

Draft. Dark orangey copper brown. Thin head but clings during entire pint. Good hoppy bite intertwined with toasty malt. My favorite aspect is in fact the malt and that this brew does not assault the senses, as so many micro ales these days are apt to do. Crisp bitter aftertaste does not malinger. Absolutely enjoyable in multiples! I'm proof of that! *hiccup*

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2004 On tap, pours a nice copperish brown, pretty but quickly diminishing head. Hardly anything at all on the nose worth mentioning. The taste is earthy, the malt nicely balancing the bitterness of the hops. Touch of chocolate on the finish. Improves as warms up. Bit rough on the palate. Enjoyable, and quite subtle in its flavorings. Good with food, one of my local favorites. NOTE: This stuff is utterly different on cask, with a really nice earthy hop thing going on. The brewer also tends to dry hop the cask version with whatever is laying around, which always makes for an interesting sample. Recommended if available.

My first impression was that it was decent brown ale, but after further tasting of a beer that is not brewed vary consistent I have learned to dislike this brew...

Not as robust as I like in an American Brown. But it is tasty with well rounded malts & nice hops especially on the finish.

I would say a standard Brown Ale with a bit more hop bitterness than usual
