22 oz bottle. Pours a pleasant, clear medium brown. Decent head with good lacing. Sweet, nutty nose, like pralines. Somewhat complex flavor, with malts, light brown sugar and a prevailing woody flavor.A slight hop bitter is noticed in the finish, but the maltiness overcomes it easily. Maybe not a great brown ale, but a good beer none the less.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2005 Draught. Amber color, doesnít look like a brown to me...maybe they tapped the wrong keg. Good beer but not a good representation of style. Fairly hoppy, too crisp. Not very malty or brown. Dissappointing.

Went down smooth and clean, with a malty, moderately full and dry finish. Just the thing after my walk around Richmond. Nothing to swoon over, but a well made ale.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice, it has some overly hoppy tones that makes it much more interesting than a simple plain brown ale. It has a simple sweet yet bitter style that is very appealing. Good amber brown colour, little aroma present, but good overall.

A downright frightening brown color in the glass with some lacing and a barely-off-white head. Interesting aromas: What is coffee doing in my brown ale? It works here, though, amid notes of woodsmoke, chocolate, and wheat. Flavors are similar to the flavor profile in a porter, too, but the beer is light and refreshing, with a balanced and developed finish. A little rough on the carbonation, but otherwise, an interesting brew.

Nice Amber color. Malty and nutty aroma. Some hops with a hint of caramel. Good nut taste and an over all decent beer.

Bottle. Sample from a friend at a brewclub meeting. Deep amber brown in color with a nice head. Malty and roasty aroma. Slight hop character. Caramel notes. Well balanced beer. Clean mouthfeel. Interesting. Nice beer.

Rich copper colour. I picked up some diacetyl in the aroma, which was otherwise mainly malty. Dry malt in the flavour, with a touch of tangy hop. Soft, but clean, mouthfeel. Not bad. On tap at the Green Leafe Cafe, Williamsburg.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light clear brown with a white head. Sour, buttery aroma. Taste has notes of brown sugar, roasty malts, nuts, caramel all intertwined with a nice buttery toffee feel to it -really nice. Mouthfeel is full, round and creamy.

A little lighter than normal, more of a deep auburn. Nose quite peaty, lots of malts to it, some caramel. Very nice flavor, loads of malts, lots of caramel and toffee, big peat character to it, mildly smoky as well. Quite nutty. Finish is long, with just a hint of sweetness hanging around the mouth. Quite enjoy the palate on it, good creaminess as well. One of the better browns Iíve had.
