Copper brown pour with some haze and one finger of sandstone head. Lots of diacetyl in the nose with some leafy herbal hop character and toasted grain. Super buttery/caramelly flavor. No me gusta. Bleh
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 csaso (500) - Missouri, USA - DEC 20, 2011
Tap - big foamy head, very dark amber/alomost borwn color, pretty standard mild brown ale, sweet malty flavor - just not my favorite style of beer overall
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 DiarmaidBHK (1540) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 26, 2012
Draft at brewpub. Pours brown with a thin white head. Not much on the nose. Not getting much on the tongue. Not really feeling this one.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 shadey (1628) - Rochester, New York, USA - JUL 26, 2006
Dark amber/brown color with a huge bubbly head. Lots of bubbles trail up the glass from the depths. The aroma is very mild, just a touch of sweetness. Flavor is also very mild with just a touch of nuttiness. A very weak brown ale despite the respectable alcohol level.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 OldMrCrow (1419) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 27, 2007
Bottle.
Pours a highly-sparkling cola-brown. Sour aroma, some caramel, a little bit of nuttiness. Flavor is sour too, some residual sugars combining with that to make it taste almost a little bit toward a Flemish sour. Nutty, chalky tones, again some caramel. It doesn’t come together at all; basically, this one was no good.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 beachbum25 (1053) - Powellville, Maryland, USA - OCT 18, 2008
On tap @ the brewpub-Clear light brown color w/a slight tan head. Slight malt aroma. Some flavors of roasted malt & caramel, but not much. Pretty boring stuff, not bad, just boring. Typical of many Brown Ales; reminds me of why this isn’t usually one of my favorite styles.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 obguthr (2583) - Poquoson, Virginia, USA - MAY 19, 2007
Va BF 07 Draft: Strange rubber and mixed nut aroma. Pours light brown, almost gold, with a light beige head and good lacing. Nice caramel and hop balance. Hop finish. Thin mouthfeel.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Elwood (1979) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - AUG 6, 2009
Serving: 22 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Deep mahogany-brown with a tall, pillowy, off-white head. The head does a good job of hanging around.
Aroma: Nuts, caramel, a slight vomit note that seemed to get worse as the beer warmed, and some wet cardboard. Not too good.
Taste: Caramel, butter, a touch of coffee, and an off bitterness on the back of the tongue. Outside of some obvious flaws, this one is out of sync taste wise. Seems like a wanna be porter.
Palate: Soft, mellow carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and some dryness. Medium-long, slightly dry, bitter finish.
Overall: This one is a bit of a mess. The best part is the appearance for sure. Seems like there are some obvious brewing flaws in this one.
Would I buy it again: No. Smelled bad and tasted bad. Not recommended.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 jcos (679) - Maryland, USA - JAN 28, 2012

Appearance: Pours a dark brown.
Aroma: Aroma is malty and boozy.
Taste: Malty, sweet with caramel.
Palate:Thin, short aftertaste.
Summary: Maybe this bottle was too old, but this beer just didn’t do it for me.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 SHIG (2707) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - NOV 11, 2011
Bottle: Clear brown with a thin off white head. Aroma was light malts. Taste was not impactful at all light malts, wet, some sour tons. Wonder if the bottle was paste its BB date.
