2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 beachbum25 (1033) - Powellville, Maryland, USA - OCT 18, 2008
On tap @ the Brewpub-Clear orange color w/a slight head. Citrus hop aroma. Thought this was pretty bland for an IPA, had some hops to it but nothing to write home about. Maybe some grass & grain thrown in, but it just didn’t do a whole lot for me. Not bad, just blah! Short hop finish.

Date: 08/02/08, bomber courtesy of Steve E., and shared with him, Celtic Brew, and Doboy
Aroma - Sweet, fruity aroma, some bubblegum, and citrus
Appearance - Clear gold with solid creamy head and slippery lace
Flavor - Sweet, fruity entry that is lasting with drying bitterness at the finish
Palate - Medium body and carboation, smooth, lightly dry
Overall - Smooth, drinkable, but very subtle and undersated for an IPA
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 doboy (316) - Morehead City, North Carolina, USA - AUG 4, 2008
Note that this bottle was kept cold andhandled properly, thanks to Steve’s wife! Steve, CelticBrew and DrBayern shared this with me. Presents a nice, big white head that lasts. It has a nice golden, clear appearance. It has a light sweet aroma. The mouthfeel is good, and the taste is malty with just the right amount of sweetness.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 CelticBrew (744) - The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA - AUG 3, 2008
Shared by Steve at his house with DrBayern, DoBoy and me! Poured from bomber a bright golden blond. Formed nice bubbley foam, left incredible lacing. Aroma of cotton candy, hops, field grass. Flavour was sweet, with a slight toffee character. Nice surprise, good beer from Legend. Thanks Steve!
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 3fourths (6218) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 21, 2008
22oz bottle pours medium honey orange color. First smell is fresh, oily hop cones, but over time and with a little temperature there’s more of this crusty bread and honey malt scent, a faint note of caramel malt as well. Flavor shows more of this caramel and honey flavor, graham cracker-like, with a moderate bitterness and a greenish note of hop leafs. Okay overall, but nothing terribly impressive.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 IMtheOptimator (1161) - Bethel, Connecticut, USA - JUL 5, 2008
Ahhh... so this is actually listed as an IPA. That explains a heck of a lot. Had on tap at The Fat Canary in Williamsburg, VA. From the name, thought it was a blonde. Poured golden with a small fizzy white head. Crisp aroma of grassy pine, a bit of toffee. Flavor is quite hoppy and refreshing with notes of piney and grassy hops, with a bit of earthiness and some butter toffee, which was the only noticeable flaw I found. I thought at the time that this was a rather hoppy variant of a blonde ale, but looking back, it was somewhat weak tasting for an IPA. Not bad, though.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Drake (4803) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - JUN 30, 2008
Bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. A friend of mine complained of an extraordinarily rotten vegetal type note to this from the draft version (i had the Ivienna). We’ll see. Amber color with moderate head. Tart, fruity gummy bear nose. Odd. Same with the taste. Nothing rotten here, but it definitely does have notes of elementary school fruit cocktail (in other words, foul), along with piney hop notes. Fairly drinkable, but weird, and no reason to drink ever again.

golden reddish with slight white head. floral and fruity nose, the flavor has a very fruity with only a mild hop appearance at the end. the beer would be very nice and subtle but the fruitiness really dominates the beer and the rest of the malt and hops cannot compensate, it ends up being unbalanced.
