3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 alexanderj (2830) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - FEB 4, 2007
UPDATED: JUN 3, 2008 Bottle; original rating below. Wanted to give this one another try before I left Virginia because I don’t usually rate a Legend beer this low. Pours a clear, coppery gold color with a medium to large white head. Aroma was better than I remembered; citrus, grass and flowers. Flavor was better too; buttery, biscuit backbone. Hop finish wasn’t too flavorful. Overall it was better than I remembered, but still not great. Boosted from 2.5 to 3.1 (Pours clear gold, some orange in it. Aroma of grassy hops. Taste is earthy, grassy hops. A little buttery, somewhat sweet malts. Just didn’t like this very much)
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 iowaherkeye (2431) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 9, 2006
22oz bomber courtesy of my Secret Santa (Numenor), no date. Pours a clear golden with a light orange tinge and a two finger slightly yellowish white head. Aroma of some biscuity and buttery malts, some citrus and grassy hops. Taste is much the same with the hops a bit more floral and then nice and buttery (like Lake Louie Kiss the Lips) notes into a dry lightly bitter finish. Fairly creamy body with a carbonation that is just a tad too sharp for it. Carbonation is moderate, by the way and the body is light to medium. Pretty good, though not one of the hoppier IPAs I’ve had.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 nolankowal (916) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 31, 2006
Bottle shared by sliffy at PTFC. Golden pour with some sediment and a white head. Aroma was musty...cobwebs with some grassy hops. The flavor was crisp yet funky at the same time with some light malt. This one might of been a tad infected, but even still, with a thin body just wasn’t too inticing of an IPA.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 sliffy (2035) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 29, 2006
Bottle: Hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma, musty, grassy hops. Flavor, stale grassy hops, some light malts. Might not have been the best bottle of this stuff. My notes were slightly more vulgar in their description.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SledgeJr (3579) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - AUG 15, 2006
Sampled at RBSG 2006- Grand Tasting. Pours a light gold with a white head. Seems very rich for a lighter golden beer. Good hop profile is present here. Has an interesting flavor of poached pears.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Suttree (3766) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 7, 2006
Orange, with a decent sized beige head, Smells like Captains wafers crackers and a weird cotton candy note. My note say "surprisingly bitter for a golden ale", but I see here that it’s an IPA, thereby making the bitterness much less surprising. Nice woody bitterness in the finish, and a crackery, biscuity malt flavor throughout. A bit too buttery as it warms.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 SpringsLicker (2486) - Tennessee, USA - JUL 31, 2006
Clear dark yellow with a frothy white head.
Sweet malt aroma.
The falvor in this really doesnt go anywhere. Light sweetness with a touch of dryness in the finish. Thin bodied. Solidly brewed, just unexciting.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 shadey (1618) - Rochester, New York, USA - JUL 26, 2006
Pour is a deep gold with a huge head of tight white bubbles that creates a pillowy coating on the glass. Aroma is a grassy dry hops. Flavor is very dry and refreshing. A very nice summer quencher.
