COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Hefeweizen is 45% malted wheat, and 55% barley malt. Much of the character of this beer comes from its unique yeast, which is not filtered out, so it tends to leave the beer cloudy. The wheat portion of this ale creates a light, crisp, dry brew perfect for drinking on a hot day. The beer is lightly hopped with Saaz, but the aroma and most of the flavor of this beer come from the wheat beer yeast. Beer Geek Stuff: Original gravity: 11.8„a Plato, final gravity 2.0„a P Lightly hopped with Mt. Hood and Saaz. Hazy white-yellow colored served unfiltered and cloudy. Brewed with 55% Vienna malt and 45% wheat malt. Fermented with authentic German wheat beer ale yeast.

Poured a cloudy golden color with a medium sized, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of lemony wheat, and a bit of citrus as well. Taste of tart citrus, a bit of banana, light spices, toffee malts, and bread, with some bubblegum in the background.

Pint at the brewery. Slightly cloudy light straw color well carbonated. Fairly clean wheat flavor with clove spice phenolics. Slight cardboard oxidized notes. Overall nice summer sipper.

22 oz bottle shared with ClarkVV. Opaque orange, thick head dies very quickly...aroma is clove, clove clove clove clove clove, and clover, and did I mention clove? my God it’s intense, and I love clove, but is that all there is to this...flavor is slightly more interesting, a touch of fruity quality and some late sourdough, but still mostly just the one pungent spice...no, no more thanks.

Draft... ODBF2006... Cloudy, yellow ale with a small, frothy, white head. Citrusy nose with soft notes of banana, clove, smoke and green apple. Ripe banana, citrus fruit and clove in the flavor. Medium-bodied and creamy with fizzy carbonation. Crisp, clean finish. Not a favorite style of mine, but refreshing on a hot, humid day!

2005 bomber many thanks to the_beer_God. Shared with Muzzlehatch on 11/4/05. Yellow-orange with a pale-gold/copper tinge to it. Vigorous amounts of bubbles rise to create a white head this is large initially, but almost immediately recedes to a ring, just as quickly as it can fizzle away. Tons of clove in the aroma, some dry nutmeg-like notes and a bit of bread on end. A touch of fruits, but a significant lack of malt sweetness/complexity and little banana/bubble gum. Flavor begins with a touch of dry, yellow fruits, lots of spicy cloves and light canned peach syrup. Light bread dough and wheat dryness but a nice wheat creaminess to the texture. The clove eventually overtakes all other flavors and the bottle can not be finished. Somewhat watery on end, after warming, with light carbonation.

Bottle from WFM Charlottesville. Pours a hazy straw-lemon color with a medium sized frothy head. Good retention and moderate lacing. Aroma was skunk at first but mellowed into yeast and clove. Taste is watery, bland and uninteresting. A little sourness and a typical yeast flavor. Bleh.
