7-21-06. Dark amber, film for head. Decent zesty citrus character up front, almost no malt to speak of. Flavor nice combo of pine resin and citrus, but dusty, again no backbone. Sort of flat, oxidation is starting to set in.

Yeah, I get too much diacetyl in this one too. Really detracts at this level from what could be a quite tasty beer.

Pours a transparent dark copper bronze with a frothy, well-lacing off-white head. Nice aroma of fresh piny hops and toasty dark caramel malt. Body starts slightly oily and mildly sweet with some earthy flavor hops and mild butterscotch diacetyl. Has some lightly toasty sugary notes and a touch of tartness. If they’d use a diacetyl rest, this could be a very nice beer.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ryan (3187) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - MAY 24, 2007
Clear dark reddish body with small off-white head. The aroma is herbal, citrus, caramel, catty. The flavor is some tea, herbal, grass and orange. Medium body with soft carbonation and slightly thin in the mouth.

on tap-pours a foamy light tan head and amber color. Aroma is citrus hops, sweet. Taste is citrus hops, sweet, faint medium malt. Good, but taste not quite up to aroma. OK carbonation/effervescence.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Terminus (2940) - Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA - APR 24, 2007
let me start this rating by saying that i have NEVER had a good beer from this brewery. EVERY one is infected with diacytl badly. I had high hopes with this one thinking they have solved their problems. pours dark copper with a small off-white fizzy head. Damn, i had a cold when i did this rating and i could still smell the diacytl from a mile away. Thats insane! some earthy esters and earthy hop notes on the nose under all the diacytl. flavors are earthy, almost brittish in its delivery. palate is oily and slick which is the beer’s only saving grace. without the diacytl, you have a strong brittish IPA, and it would have been a good one at that! too bad Legend-you have problems!

22 oz bomber. Bottle states this beer celebrates Legend’s 13th Anniversary. Pours to a slightly hazy, deep amber color, with a thick, creamy, off white head, and a lively carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent, just dripping with hops. Pungent aromas of piney and citrus pair with light aromas of sweet and caramel malt. The palate is firm, with good sweet and caramel malt flavors, paried with a tangy piney/citrus hop flavor. This beer finishes with more good pale, sweet and caramel malts, and then ends with a very bitter, piney, resiney, hop bitteness that lingers. Wow. Big hop aromas, big hop flavors, big hop bitterness. A very well done, AIPA that just screams hops. I loved this one. A perfect after work beer, an aperitif beer, or one to match with firery foods.

Draft. Aroma of hops and some malt. Decent amount of malt flavor in this one, but the hops were metallic (tasted like a dry-hopped version or something), and it could have been a lot better.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 alexanderj (3082) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - APR 14, 2007
Draft. Poured a darkish amber with a medium whitish head. Aroma of hops and caramel. Flavor was a little harsh and metallic for me. Wasnt particularly good for me; had a lot of hops, but just didnt click for me.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 millysdaddy (67) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - MAR 30, 2007
22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, dark amber with a large off-white head. Very caramely aroma with citrus and foral hop notes as well. The flavor starts off very hoppy followed by caramel, vanilla and raisin with a dry and bitter finish. Interesting IPA - kind of feels closer to a double IPA.
