COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, crisp Ale that is hopped to the extreme. A Combination of Pale Ale, Bonlander Munich and Carapils Malts to which a very, very, generous amount of hops has been added gives a balanced 126 IBU beer.

Wow what a seriously pleasant surprise from a local brewer that I admittedly took too long to try. Pours a reddish amber with little head. Heavy floral notes with a sweet finish that hides every bit of that 9%. Dangerously drinkable.Claims to be 126 IBU but I think more like 100. Reminds me a lot of 90 Minute, but not quite as aromatic.

22oz, super fresh 2011 bomber from grape & gourmet. pours a clear, copper with a thick, fluffy off-white head, great retention, and light lacing. aroma is great with fresh, syrupy-sweet, fruity hop notes of orange, tangerine, and pink grapefruit with hints if gummy bears, pine esters, wet leaves, and toffee malts. flavor is delicious as well with orange marmalade, lemon zest, and light tropical fruits backed by bitter, grassy hops, cotton candy, and a pleasant toasted malt note on the finish. palate is medium bodied, smoothly carbonated, and finishes dry, fruity, and nicely bitter. overall, a damn nice dipa and definitely the best beer from Legend.

(Sample Date: 1/17/2011 Source:Commercial Taphouse) Dry hopped firkin. Fresh floral grassy hop nose. Slightly cloudy orange golden with whispy white head. Nice fresh resin floral hop flavor with enough sweetness to balance. Finish is dry and hoppy.

Bottle (rating from notes in 2006). Amber color. Sweet and syrupy with lots of pine and apple with a nice malt complexity.

Sampled at the 2nd annual Virginia Beer Festival at Capital Ale House Midlothian. Pours a medium bronze color with a thin head. Aroma is leafy, vegetal hops with caramel and other hoppy notes. Taste is bitter resiny hops with lots of citrus notes. Medium bodied.

2005 vintage (most likely) courtesy of footbalm. Pours crystal clear copper with thin white head. The aroma is muted pine and fir tree hoppiness and some malt sweetness way out in the background. The flavor has an initial burst of carbonation induced pine hop non bitterness. Pretty good for the age on this brew. The flavor also carries mildly roasted malt sweetness from beginning to end. I should compare this experience to a fresh sample at some point.

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2008 An unknown vintage discovered during an exploration into footbalm’s cellar. Found right next to a ancient Aztec drinking skull. Pours a light amber with a thin tan head. The aroma was a full mix of sweet malts and some hops. The taste had a bit of grapefruit hops up front, then a bunch of sweet malt aspects, quite relaxed and has aged well in my opinion. Very interesting.

Pours out a nice bright coppery color with a smaller head. aroma is sweet and fairly hoppy. The flavor was sweet and hoppy with a malty finish. I was hoping for more hops to it, but overall this was a nice brew.

Bottle brought over by Daniel, thanks. My first experience with anything from this brewery, and it was a good one. Dark red color pour with a yellowish head. Looks very similar to the Laughing Dog Imperial IPA. Smells sweet, hoppy, and plenty full of malts and hops. Tastes smooth, yet very powerful even for a low abv. Easy to drink, one that I would drink again, and I imagine this would be really good on tap. Nice stuff.

Pours a clear as day ruby copper with a nice frothy head that dies quick. Lacing occurs in sheets. Smells of fruity hops, a little piney, nothing abrasive but strong still the same. Tastes as it smells. Big juicy but fruity hops. Also a very nice malty backbone. Very crisp and refreshing in the mouth. No abv apparant and an extremely sessionable IIPA.
