COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big, crisp Ale that is hopped to the extreme. A Combination of Pale Ale, Bonlander Munich and Carapils Malts to which a very, very, generous amount of hops has been added gives a balanced 126 IBU beer.

Mostly clear and medium amber-red. Creamy and weighty with a fluffy carbonation. Richly malted, with elements of dark caramel, hard candy, and super-rich toffee. Much maltier than your typical imp./dbl. IPA, especially the West Coast impy IPAs, as Pdee noted. Wonderful hop notes throughout (aromatic flowers, nips of lemon, grass, herbs, and a little sourness). Grass resin sticks to the roof of the mouth in the aftertaste. Very complementing sweetness and bitterness. Great beer.

Bottle@Home. Nice sweet DIPA. Not not too harsh or grassy as many USA DIPA’s seem to be. Balanced, flavourful, highly drinkable.

Pours a hazy copper, with a quickly dissipating, foam head. Aroma of grapefruit & citrus, very hoppy and sweet. Medium to full body, with caramel, malt, hops, and a little buttery flavor. Finishes bitter, but doesn’t upset the smoothness of this IPA

Bomber. Pours a light clear copper with a tall rocky off-white head that holds well and laces--very attractive head. The aroma is beautiful and fresh--citric hops, with a hint of resinous hops, and a perfectly balanced pale malt character to compliment. Not the most powerful IPA/IIPA aroma, but perfectly pleasant and balanced. The flavor is heavy on the malt side, but in a strangely pleasant and unique way. Fruity malt character upfront with a nice, only slightly bitter, hop finish. Medium dry with a nice citric juicy quality to boot. Its on the heavier end of medium bodied with very minimal carbonation. An aggressive pour will settle most all of the carbonation out. Overall: one of the more unique IPAs/IIPAs I have had. I am not really one for malt IPAs/IIPAs, but I really enjoyed this one and found the fruity malt character to compliment the hops!

Apple and pear aroma. Clear copper, medium yellow head. Whole apple flavor with the flesh, core, and skins easily discernible. Sweet malt base. Not terribly bitter except a kiss in the finish, and the high IBUs blend tastefully. I’d very much like to know which hops were used. No ordinary IIPA and wonderfully delicious.

Wow what a seriously pleasant surprise from a local brewer that I admittedly took too long to try. Pours a reddish amber with little head. Heavy floral notes with a sweet finish that hides every bit of that 9%. Dangerously drinkable.Claims to be 126 IBU but I think more like 100. Reminds me a lot of 90 Minute, but not quite as aromatic.

22oz, super fresh 2011 bomber from grape & gourmet. pours a clear, copper with a thick, fluffy off-white head, great retention, and light lacing. aroma is great with fresh, syrupy-sweet, fruity hop notes of orange, tangerine, and pink grapefruit with hints if gummy bears, pine esters, wet leaves, and toffee malts. flavor is delicious as well with orange marmalade, lemon zest, and light tropical fruits backed by bitter, grassy hops, cotton candy, and a pleasant toasted malt note on the finish. palate is medium bodied, smoothly carbonated, and finishes dry, fruity, and nicely bitter. overall, a damn nice dipa and definitely the best beer from Legend.

(Sample Date: 1/17/2011 Source:Commercial Taphouse) Dry hopped firkin. Fresh floral grassy hop nose. Slightly cloudy orange golden with whispy white head. Nice fresh resin floral hop flavor with enough sweetness to balance. Finish is dry and hoppy.

Bottle (rating from notes in 2006). Amber color. Sweet and syrupy with lots of pine and apple with a nice malt complexity.

Sampled at the 2nd annual Virginia Beer Festival at Capital Ale House Midlothian. Pours a medium bronze color with a thin head. Aroma is leafy, vegetal hops with caramel and other hoppy notes. Taste is bitter resiny hops with lots of citrus notes. Medium bodied.

2005 vintage (most likely) courtesy of footbalm. Pours crystal clear copper with thin white head. The aroma is muted pine and fir tree hoppiness and some malt sweetness way out in the background. The flavor has an initial burst of carbonation induced pine hop non bitterness. Pretty good for the age on this brew. The flavor also carries mildly roasted malt sweetness from beginning to end. I should compare this experience to a fresh sample at some point.
