Yellow-tinted copper color, small head. Soapy, sweet aroma. Really sweet malt taste. Not much hops here. Mild texture, small bite, no lacing, and weak head. All malt in the finish.

Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a clear amber color with a large creamy head. Good head retention and lacing. Nutty aroma with very lightly toasted malts/ Some stone fruits and caramel as well. Fairly dry. Taste is caramel, apple, apricot and a grainy finish. Leafy hops as well with a very, very faint hint of chocolate. Medium bodied. Good beer.

Richmond Gathering. On tap at the brewpub. Hazy golden brown with a small tan head. Earthy malt nose, light fruit and honey. Honey and earth flavors, doesn’t seem quite sweet enough for a maibock. Medium body. OK.

MaltDawg (1344) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAY 16, 2008
Pint at the brewery . Mostly clear golden copper well carbonated. Aroma of caramel malts and some yeasty fruityness. Caramel with a bit of roast malt flavor. Some fruity yeast notes. Generally lacked any spicey german style hop flavor or bitterness. A bit of alchohol warming. Fairly thin light mouthfeel, seems to lack some of the expected malt sweetness typical in the style.

Bottle sampled in May 2006 thanks to Numenor: Clear copper amber with a thin-lacing light tan head. Aroma of semi-sweet Vienna and Munich malts, lightly toasted with earthy bittering noble hops and German lager yeast. Starts with a nice, lightly sweet German maltiness with some good noble hoppy balance. Fairly true to style, but could use a touch more sweetness.
