3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 nickd717 (3242) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUN 28, 2010
Bomber via trade as an extra thanks to billab914 on BA. I allowed my fiancee (damn I hate that word, I just need to get married already) to use half the bottle to cook a seafood stew and then I drank the other half of it with the stew. All of the above tasted great.
This beer pours a bright, clear golden-copper color with a thick two-finger white head that takes several minutes to fade and leaves some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is very nice and fitting for the style. Sweet malt, nuts, earth, and a little toast/biscuit.
Flavor is also great. Sweetness level is spot-on and the beer is very well-balanced. Lots of caramel on the flavor, along with some light fruity notes, honey, earth, and some restrained bittering hops. Very tasty for the style.
Smooth on the palate with medium body for a maibock. Carbonation level is just about right.
A damn solid beer overall. Extremely drinkable. Really great for something that is 1) a lager, 2) not barrel aged, 3) less than 7% ABV, 4) not produced by a hyped up brewery, and 5) not that rare. I approve.

Great reddish-brown body with a quickly diminishing tan head. A very light aroma, sweet, malty, very nice. Subtle flavor, grassy accents, earthy malts as well, very well done. Clean ending, one of Legend’s better seasonals.

Bottle. Legends newest seasonal. Clear copper body with a tall foamy manilla colored head. Nose is malty and semi-sweet with big fruit notes, light caramel, yeast and a hint of alcohol. Taste is spicy and malty. Big spices intermingling with creamy malts, ripe fruit, light caramel, and hops. Little more spicy and hopy than expected, but this turns out better than the Doppelbock. Body is full and with a moderate carbonation feel. Dry is spots with lingering light spicy hop bitterness. Finishes with more spicy hops, light yeast, dried fruit, light nuttiness, caramel and creamy malts. Nice beer!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 boto (1550) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - AUG 24, 2011
Draught @ Brewpub: This one poured a crystal clear coppery color. There was very little of an off-white head on it, and it left no lacing. It has a rich, malty nose. Hints of roastiness, chocolate and dark fruit. The taste is good. Lots of malts, yet hardly sweet at all. Slightly nutty and hints of dark fruits. Nice. Surprisingly good, as the other offerings in the pub were pretty bland.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 VA Homebrewer (525) - Portsmouth, Virginia, USA - MAY 15, 2005
Copper colored with a tannish head. Aroma of spicy and earthy hops, lightly malty. Big spicy/grassy/earthy hops with a nice malt backbone - very much like bread dough. Nice beer, but not my favorite Legend Seasonal.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Drake (4803) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - SEP 12, 2009
Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a clear amber color with a large creamy head. Good head retention and lacing. Nutty aroma with very lightly toasted malts/ Some stone fruits and caramel as well. Fairly dry. Taste is caramel, apple, apricot and a grainy finish. Leafy hops as well with a very, very faint hint of chocolate. Medium bodied. Good beer.

Sweet malt up front then hops in the back. A descent offering from legend, cant complain, but most of what i have had from them is better.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Kinz (2694) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - MAY 11, 2005
UPDATED: APR 16, 2010 The doppelbock release, followed quickly by a maibock to my surprise. Too bad I don’t like the style. In any case, a pretty beer as almost all Legend beers are, nice creamy tan head sitting on a clear copper orange body. Bready nose with some fruit as well. Flavor had more bread (big time), some apricot, and some spiciness that just sort of struck me as odd. Not bad, but not my thing. Not overly sweet at least. RERATE: 4/14/2010 - about the same, but didn’t get the spicy note. Slight change in score from my original 6, 4, 6, 3, 12.
