12 oz bottle. Aroma- sweet, toast. Appearnce clear copper large head with fair retention. Flavor- Sweet with almost syrupy or cloying quality. More toast underneath. Plenty of bitterness. Palate- Medium-full body, sticky, moderate carbonation. Overall- First in this style that I really focus on. Not as refreshing in these hot sticky late spring days in Virginia.

Flat and headless beer is a caramel-ruby color that nearly looks artificial. Thin aromas of malt and some floral. Sweet tasting, with a drying finish that gives away the hops. Caramel on the finish. Full palate and a "contained" carbonation that enhances some of the malts on the finish, too.

The aroma is malty and sweet with a caramel quality as well as some hops to balance. The appearance is amber with a foamy head. The taste is like the aroma with an acidic bite. The palate is a bit thin. Overall a better than average beer.

MaltDawg (1346) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAY 16, 2008
Pint at the brewery . Mostly clear golden copper well carbonated. Aroma of caramel malts and some yeasty fruityness. Caramel with a bit of roast malt flavor. Some fruity yeast notes. Generally lacked any spicey german style hop flavor or bitterness. A bit of alchohol warming. Fairly thin light mouthfeel, seems to lack some of the expected malt sweetness typical in the style.

For some reason it loaded my comments under my husbands user name ( HopTsing). See his rating for my opinion.
