Lightly hopped, light body porter with roasted malt and chocolate undertone flavors. Lightly carbonated, average porter.

From the bottle, pours black with a thick tan bubbly head. Aroma of chocolate and molasses. Fruity taste, not unlike a Shiraz with carbonation. It’s, ok.

Legend’s porter pours dark brown with a one-finger tan head. Swishing the glass reveals alcohol fingers. Mouthfeel is full and creamy. Chocolate is in the forefront and carries through to a long sweet finish. A little hoppiness arrives late to temper the chocolate.

Nose is roasty and moderately sweet, more so than many other porters, chocolate and some residual. Pours dark brown, almost black, creamy tannish head. The flavor starts with some roast, goes through a good amount of chocolate sweetness and light sugary notes.

22oz bottle. Dark black pour, I got very little if anything on the nose. Licorice, some roasted malt, a little chocolate and blah aftertaste. Felt it was fairly thin for a porter. Don’t need to ever buy this one again, poor effort at the style.

Bottle pours dark brown with a creamy brown head that quickly settles. Aroma is sweet, nutty, with hints of chocolate. Flavor is lightly roasted malt, a bit of chocolate and toffee. Finish is lightly bitter with a strange off flavor I can’t quite put my finger on.

On tap at Frank Beamer’s American Grill in Hampton VA. Dark black pour with a mild head. Sweet aroma of roasted toffee and caramel, with the same taste following, excellent. Probably the best sweet porter I have ever tried.

Practically black except near the bottom of the glass where the light hits it just right. It holds a deep tan head until you’re ready to drink it. Nutty, sugary, prailine aroma. Light texture for a porter. Mild bite. Pretty sweet overall. Makes a good desert beer, but its a bad idea to drink this ne on an empty stomach.

This poured a dark brown color with an beige head. Aroma was some grassy hops, very light roasted notes and some astringency. Flavor was very lightly roasted, some artificial corny sweetness and some rotting wood in the finish.

Good drinking beer. Strong chocolate overtones. Nicely colored and well-typed.

Location: On Tap at Legend, 12/26/09

Overall Impression: This was a pretty nice Porter, more on the dry side then the sweet side for this style. A nicely made beer.
