3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CaptainCougar (6853) - Columbia, USA - JAN 10, 2012
22oz bottle: Pours a clear deep amber with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Has a sweet toasty dark caramel malty nose with some dark fruity esters and a touch of brown sugar. Starts with good fullness and rich sweet caramel and biscuity malty complexity with some bready yeasty notes and mild clove spice with the slightest hint of light fruity tartness before a slightly thinner and warming finish. Pretty true to style and drinkable given the abv.

Pours a clear deep amber/ruby color with a medium tan head. Aroma is fruity with notable yeastiness...just a bit aggressive. Flavor has lots of fruit...fig, raisin, a hint of apple...some sugary sweetness and some underlying leathery notes...boozy. mouthfeel is medium/heavy with a malty, warming finish.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Elwood (1978) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - JAN 6, 2012
Serving:draft at Fireworks. Pours a deep cloudy gold. The nose is light with a bit plastic and malt. The flavor is weak with some honey, yeast and a slight sweetness. This one isn’t very impressive.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 TheEpeeist (2482) - Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 3, 2012
22 oz bottle. Deep, clear honey brown with a creamy off-white head. Nose is toffee, dried orange peel and golden raisin. Medium to full body with a soft buzz. Taste like the aroma, almost more a barleywine or strong ale. Brown sugar, pomegranate, dates, bitter peach pit then tea and yeast. Better too sweet than burnt.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 arone12 (774) - Maryland, USA - OCT 10, 2011
Pours a rich brown color with a light brown colored head. Maybe a tinge of red. Smells of dates, souring grapes, and some yeast. Taste has some brown sugar. Not as sour as the aroma suggests. Heavy date flavor with some plums. Not a great quad but still decent.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Butters (3014) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - AUG 24, 2011
On draft at Tarrants. Pours a dark clear brown with thin ring of khaki head. Definitely has alcohol. Sweet and dark fruity nose, and the flavor is the same but more intense and more complex blend of fruits like plum, and dark cherry, and currants, along with very warming alcohol. One of the better Legend brews I’ve had.

Bottle. Summer 2011 release. Finally! A new Legend beer in the bottle! Ruby/mahogany blend with a medium, fluffy beige head. Aroma is sweet with dark fruit, soft caramel, light spice, light nuttiness, and faint yeast. Taste is also sweet with more ripe, dark fruit, sticky caramel, chewy malt, pleasant spice notes, yeast, flowers and light nuttiness. Body is medium-full and somewhat thick and chewy. Dense carbonation and a moderate stickiness. Ends with more caramel, dark fruit, dessert cake, sweet malt, mild spice, yeast and flowers. Pretty good stuff!
