Draft - Copper colored body with white head. This was a unique twist on a Pale and is very well done. The spicy malt flavor mixes well with the hoppiness of the beer. Very refreshing.

On tap at the brewpub on 07/16/2008. This was their Rye Pale Ale, so this may not be entered under the proper entry, but I’ll confirm more later. Clear golden orange body with a large foamy off-white head. Light rye and grain aroma with light floral hints. Rye flavor, some grain and some floral and citrus hops. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Butters (3356) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUL 14, 2008
On draft at the brewery. They called it their RyePA. Pours an orange-copper with decent eggshell head. Light floral hop aroma. Grainy with a hop bite in the finish and a hint of pine. Medium body, with medium carbonation. A bit tannic in the finish. Didn’t care fo rit too much

Hazy golden color with a substantial white head. Piney hop aroma and mild malt aroma. Acidic, dry and full bodied. Malty, not overwhelmingly "ryeish", but it does have quite a thick, enjoyable, full mouthfeel. Very pleasant.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2004 This beer was ordered as a pint on tap at a bar. The head was modest and slowly disappeared. The beer had a good clean taste that lingered. The coppery color complimented the drink. The finish had a hint of hops and some malt.

On tap at brewpub, pretty copper color with a very nice looking head, rye really seems to help in this area for some reason. Faint aroma, a touch of pepper. Flavor was of pepper, a bit of smokiness, and a malt sweetness. Sweeter than I would have expected, especially considering the slightly acidic finish. Quite nice with food.

Bottled version. Pours a copper body with a medium tan head. Nose was somewhat thin. Some rye, definite malt, light hops and smoked wood. The taste was excellent. The light rye and malt mixed with a lighter hop body and a smooth finish. Seemed more like an Octoberfest beer to me. Good stuff though!

On tap at brewery: Amber hue with a good creamy white head and excellent lace. The aroma was faint, really had the stick my nose in this one to fully detect the smell. What I found was rye (of course), toasted malt, aromatic hops, slight hint of smoke and dust. The taste made my effort worth it. Very good balance between sweet and bitter tones, crisp and clean mouthfeel. The rye character makes it presence known more toward the acidic and bitter finish. Pretty nice brew which works well with spicy lunch I had.
