JK (2356), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Jul 15, 2008 After traveling to Prague and Vienna, I know a good dunkel when I taste one. This one is spot on. The aroma and flavor are in the classic Central European style for this beer. Meaty, roasted grains. Just a hint of smoke, along with some licquorice. Black, and extremely drinkable. Thanks to Skyview for sharing. LawStudent09 (315), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Jun 27, 2008 Thanks to Skyview. Clear dark brwo pour with a finger thick tan head. Sweet caramel nose. Slightly tart butterscotch taste. badgerben (3001), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jun 12, 2008 Growler courtesy of Skyview. Dark brown color with a large head. Light chocolate and sweet grain aroma. The chocolate and grainy bread taste are there, but a tart and almost lactic acidity ruin it. JPDIPSO (4189), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Apr 7, 2008 Dark brown color with an off-white head. The frosted mugs are really quite annoying. Light aromas of toffee, earthy hops, touch of roasted malt and old wood. Quite dry in the middle that follows into the finish and linger. Some wood and smoke in the finish. A dark amber at best. Skyview (2657), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Apr 16, 2007 Third stop during Wisconsin Trip #2 at the Legends Brewhouse in DePere. This brew is available at all three locations. Straight on tap at the brewpub, it pours a clear darkish brown brew with a white head. Nice lacing. Aroma picks up some caramel, butter, allspice, nutmeg and some medicine herbs. Taste is lightly carbonated with short sweetness and bitterness. Finish is light and a somewhat dry mineral texture.
