3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draught at Brauerei Gaststätte Leicht, Nov. 2012: Radiant yellow gold. Fragmented but fine white head. Mineral, hay, toasted bread, nectar, and apricot comprise the mediocre nose. Hints of tropical fruit esters, custardlike yeast, and solvent alcohol. Firm, fuzzy carbonation. Softly bready, initially, with a toasty grip combined with ample dry, nutty depth to complement and clean up some of the assertive fruitiness. Some vaguely toasty straw definition in there, as well. Sweet nectar delicately kisses and accentuates the ensuing spicy hop bitterness. MIld graham cracker cookie beneath. Malt is clean but not overly deep, and a soured fruit dimension hampers its fullness. Finishes with a semi-sharp flourish of alcohol, and well-structured with its toast and fresh hay interplay, as some flowery notes linger. An okay rendition, but a bit fruitier and more alcoholic than I would prefer.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
draft at Brauerei Leicht in Pferdsfeld
clear amber body with a thick white head. Helles-like semi-sweet pilsner / pale malt honey aroma with some lighter touches of Munich toffee / caramel / burnt cereals and grassy German hop accents. develops more fruit / pear esters as it breathes and opens. seems sweeter than most similar semi-dunkel landbier, almost sugary, and when warmer it emits some ethanol notes similar to what you find in many heller bocks, as well as some green apple notes, suggesting it may have been fermented too warm and/or fast.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20

Draught at the brewpub. The color is warm amber and the head is creamy. The aroma has notes of malt, light straw and the flavour has a light sweetness and notes of malt, light straw, flower and initially I find hints of smoke in the dry finish, but that note disappears after a little while.

On tap at the brewpub. Deep golden to light amber coloured, stable and creamy firm head. Grainy, a bit toasty nose with hoppy sparks. Solid sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied. First sweet-malty and nutty finish with an increasing bitterness in the aftertaste. A tasty and well balanced franconian brew...........

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
(draught at the Brauerei Gaststätte Leicht) Clear, amber colour with a medium-sized off-white foamy head. Sweet and slightly toasty cara-malty nose with light notes of toffee and herbal hops. Sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Aromatic malt-profile with notes of bread and toffee, rounded up with delicate herbal spice. Drying-out effect towards the sweet-bitter malt-accented finish with a light hoppy touch. A bit sweet but pleasant to drink Franconian “Halbdunkles” (04.X.08).
