Pours an almost black molasses colour with a lightly coffee coloured head that stays stable for some time, making a picture-perfect glass of porter which even strong light can not penetrate. It smells like freshly broken plums with the promise of something dark and bitter hiding behind it. The taste is overwhelmingly strong for a beer of slightly more than 6%. Roasted bitter almond, aspects of coffee and an undertone that makes me think of freshly tilled dark soil. The taste does not linger particularly long but a nice dark chocolate hint does remain. It’s the first beer I had of this brewer and it really makes we want to taste the others too.
