COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the small fishing village at Cape Rodney and the home of the Sawmill brewing company, this beer is based on an India Pale Ale (IPA) style. It has to be brewed to reflect traditional London Ale. Mid-amber in colour with tones of caramel and a slight hint of chocolate, this ale has a round mouth feel, with slight bitterness followed by a finish of good hop notes. This is an ideal session beer that can be enjoyed with many foods, but especially suited to pizza, breads, cheeses and snakes. 4.3-4.5%abv

Orangey gold with massive fluffy head. Sugary aroma, with some green apple, and grassy hops. Things improve on the palate, with a good full body, with nice soft carbonation. Flavours of peaches, apples, and grapes. Slightly sugary, but not as much as the aroma suggests. Slightly sticky finish. A good effort from a brewery I’ve had no experience of. I like the can too, great way to deliver craft beer. Just don’t drink from it!

Nice gold colour. Subdued hop aroma. Quite rich malt palate, citrus hop finish. Ok but not earth-shattering

500ml bottle. Clear gold pour with a short white head leaving minimal lace. Unremarkable nose. Light body, medium carbonation. Toast, lemon, straw, sugar. Not impressed, there are much better classic pale ales out there.

Can. An amber beer with a beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of elderberries and dusty hops as well as lighter notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with ntoes of malt, caramel, elderberries, and spicy hops, leading to a dry bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Poured from the can, a clear amber with a foamy white head. A strong and clean hoppy aroma, grassy, resiny and soem tropical fruits. Malty palate, with that slight hint of chocolate coming through. The hops increase through the swallow, bringing with it some bitterness and those strong resiny notes again. Pretty good.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2008 (Can 44 cl) Clear amber golden with a small, creamy, off-white head leaving some lacework. Aroma of fruit and a little caramel. Medium body with very fruity accents and a little caramel without being sweet. Dry and hoppy finish. This is far from being an IPA, but it’s actually a rather drinkable Pale Ale. 150208

(On tap) Clear, amber golden with a small, off-white head. Lightly nutty aroma. A little thin in the body. Weak notes of caramel and a whiff of nuts. Dry, lightly hoppy finish. A bit boring. 5/3/4/3/10=2.5 090208
