500 ml flip-top bottle as “Leikeim Landbier” bought at Biorganic’s booth at HKCEC in Wan Chai during HKTDC Food Expo 2014.

Clear golden light amber colour with no yeast sediments; Two and a half finger head and crumpety white foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and active, very slow-rising carbonation; Quite fragrant aroma of malt, with light floral, light honey, thick bread, strong dough, yeast, light lemon and very light grass; Close to medium sweet taste of moderate malt, with very faint floral, strong molasses, faint herbs, bread, yeast, lemon, light liquorices, moderate bitter hops and light grass; Close to light body, Thin but slick palate; Mouth feel is filtered Landbier with maltyness slightly thicker than a Helles, slick to tongue. Quite strong but nice molasses sweetness with lingering faint floral, moderate breadyness and faint herbal feel. Okay… Hoppiness is light floral, light lemon and light grass in nose. Faint herbal, light flower, lemon and light grass in taste. Moderate hops with nice touch of light liquorices to give it a moderate but sweet bitterness for an abrupt sweet hoppy finish; Fairly dry after taste. Bitter sweet to mouth.

Comments: This one is a little disappointing for being filtered, and maltyness is a bit Helles-like. It has good looks and big head, but seems a little forced for the style. The liquorices and slightly herbal hoppyness shines with sweetness and serves as its saving graces. Far from the best for a Landbier, but it’s not too shabby, either.

Alengrin (2351) - BELGIUM - AUG 24, 2014
Bavarian Landbier with snow white, dense, creamy head and orange golden blonde colour, clear with very little sparkling. Aroma of pale Pilsener malts, honey, cheese, flowery hops; clean malt taste, bit creamy but light mouthfeel, smooth, subtle honey, leafy and flowery hoppiness in the finish, no real bitterness. Bit superficial for this style.

Bottle. Clear yellow, with medium white head. Aroma is a bit of grass, not much. Taste is sweet, light bitter. Aftertaste is a bit malty with some spices, not bad. Palate is fresh, medium to thin and all in all "süffig". Refreshening beer, but nothing too special.

Swing top bottle, 500 ml, into a lager glass. ABV 5.4% Pours a golden yellow beer, with a small white and soapy head on top, wiht quite good retention, leaving heavy lacing on the glass. Aroma of earth, grass, some bread, malts. Taste is quite grainy at first, with grass and clean straw following, leaving a light bitterness on the aftertaste. Tastes quite fresh. Medium thin body, good carbonation, smooth on the palate. Overall not a bad beer, refreshing.

0,5 l swing top bottle. A nice clear golden with a mighty white head in the glass. Soft grainy and malty on the nose. Tastes more malty and smooth spicy grain in the second row. Later low pleasant bitterness. Citrus and apple hints in the background. I really enjoyed it.
