Traditional stone beer brewed with super-heated stones.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2013 Flip top bottle. The oranger shade of amber. Pour leaves a great head but it doesn’t last. Kind of a sweet beer (caramel from the stones, although I don’t know if they really use stones). Bready malts and some fruit flavors which likely come from the yeast. Light on the hops, but the overall effect isn’t too rich.

I am not sure what I would call this were it not a steinbier. I suppose it is something along the lines of a Vienna. It pours a rather cloudy amber color with a thing but long lasting head of fine bubbles. This is definitely a malt-forward beer w/ the nose being mostly mild dried fruit and a bit of nuttiness. This comes off as a bit sweet not so much because there is so much residual sugar, just that there is very little hop presence to speak of. There is a very slight about of tartness which along w/ fine but slightly prickly carbonation bring out some extra fruity notes. It finishes cleanly w/ just a touch of caramel sweetness lingering on the tongue. My bottle was clearly getting on in age, which is too bad because this has great potential. It is just not quite there in the condition I sampled it in.

Malty taste with a raisins nutes, a little rosted with a bitter texture. Watery palate and a malty-bitter finish. White and thick head, stays long on top. Golden colour.

50cl sample in "Alles IPA - Craft anders" ProBierClub seminar, Braukunst Live 02/2014. (had once before as part of 25 DE sampler, 2011). Interesting to learn this is one of few top-fermenting DE beers after hot stones are thrown into the mash, creating a rich and subtle bouquet of caramelised sugars. Tastes like a more appealing full-bodied Vollbier else. Another to malt-forward DE old-time craft beer.

Hazy orange with quite a head. Taste is quite flat, neither very sweet nor bitter. Appears thin in the beginning, average carbonation, but then the malty aroma kicks in, lightly roasted, caramel, some more bitterness to the end. Hard to judge this beer, if the body was fuller it could be a real nice one.

Bottle. A very yeasty, doughy beer, almost like a yeast cake in caramel coating. Tofeeish, rather full bodied and light bitter. A good brew.
