Traditional stone beer brewed with super-heated stones.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2013 Flip top bottle. The oranger shade of amber. Pour leaves a great head but it doesn’t last. Kind of a sweet beer (caramel from the stones, although I don’t know if they really use stones). Bready malts and some fruit flavors which likely come from the yeast. Light on the hops, but the overall effect isn’t too rich.

0,5 l bottle from local getränkemarkt, best before 24/6/2015. Clear, golden amber with medium large, foamy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Sweetish, not that intense aroma of caramel, hay, bread and cereals. Sweetish taste of caramel with hints of cereals, bread and hay. Short, medium bitter finish. Thin to medium body, almost watery mouthfeel, average carbonation. Tasty and quaffable but not very interesting. Still nice to see a brewery keeping up that traditional style!

Bottle 0,50L. Gift from my friend Gregor. Cloudy orange colourwith small, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of bread, biscuits, vanilla and caramel. Taste starts moderate bitter, somehow fruity, but very hoppy. Finish is moderate bitter. Medium to full body, oily texture and lively carbonation. Interesting beer, kinda different...

Aroma: caramel, bready, butterscotch. Appearance: hazy amber color, nice beige head. Taste: medium bitterness (herbs), heather notes, dark malts, slightly smoked, roasted. Palate: medium body and high carbonation, roasted and bitter finish. Overall: Strange beer, amber beer, which is really roasted.

(Rating #5995)

My Bottom Line:
Loose caramel and bready sugars roam around soft carbonation in this lackadaisical brew.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the dull amber.
-Hops are nearly absent.
-This is not süffig enough for my tastes.
-Malt flavors, which are dominant, are not clearly expressed.
-This is an overly simple brew which cannot succeed in seducing through its lack of flavor clarity and poor drinkability.

Bottle poured into an altbier glass. Pours a light rust orange with a finger of white head. Aroma of caramel and toffee with grains and pale cereal malts. Taste is light biter, follows aroma. Pretty darn good. Haven’t really dabbled too much in this style but I would be interested in more.

Bottle split during my 40th bash at CBC Islo, thanks to Brian (Beerviking), 11/10/14. Lightly hazed golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is bready, pale malt, straw, cereal, light citric notes. Taste comprises bitter earthy fruits, straw, vanilla, light caramel, grain. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, smei drying close. So so.

Bottle shared in London! Pours unclear gold with a frothy white head. The nose holds bread and pale berries. Sweet, with white bread, some tangerine, cereal, hay. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Simple finih, sweet, bready. Drinkable stuff.
